Finally Got Around To Detailing The Car...

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I finally managed to dig out all my detailing clobber and spend a few hours on the car this weekend, thought I'd share the results with you. Here is an overview of the process and materials:

Jet wash.

Foamed with Ultimate Snow Foam, allowed to dwell.

Rinsed.

Washed with 2BM and Dooka Wash Pad.

Rinsed.

Carpro TRIX applied, allowed to dwell then agitated.

Rinsed.

Car clayed with G3 clay mitt.

Rinsed.

Dried.

Polished with DA using Sonus SFX-1 pad and Scholl Concepts S17+, using plush microfiber on each panel after polishing.

Polished again with DA using finishing pad and Nanotech Super Gloss, microfiber used again on each panel.

Sealed with strong dilution of G Techniq C2v3.

Exhaust polished with Autosol.

Tyres, mudflaps and splitter treated with Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel.

Interior vacuumed (seats shampoo'd recently), trim treated with AG Rubber & Vinyl Care, went crackers and splashed out on a new Magic Tree too.

I did all the paintwork stuff in one go, left the interior and exterior finishing touches (exhaust etc) until the day after. The whole paintwork process took six hours of work, hard going but I'm very pleased with the results. For those of you who went to the Shark Open Day yesterday, I was parked opposite the workshop entrance.

Your thoughts, opinions and advice are all welcome. Cheers.

Awesome detail mate and good write up! :)

Car looks superb - great effort.... 6hrs+!!!!

Hope you had fun at the open day.

Did you catch up with Dean on the Mainz stand?

Thanks very much mate, had to have a break mid way through, hard work! Came up great though in my opinion. I saw the guys there with their stand. Great day it was, massive turnout and some lovely motors.

Does look nice. :sun:

6hrs+ on a small car is a proper detail mate!

Not sure what discounts Dean was running but he mentioned to me he was setting up a stand for the Shark day.

Discount code OCD10 gets you 10% off on their website. :)

Well done, looks great.

Really does look great. Nice job, and the alloys look amazing.

Nice work

You did well to do all that in only 6 hours

Well done

Thanks guys. The six hours was only the paintwork stuff, the exhaust and interior was on top of that. But still, for me, that is really quick!

Well - an enhancement detail in 4 hours is just about achievable; but certainly in the realms of 6 to 8 hours work for a full correction.

Likewise - i tend to do the same.... exterior takes a full day; 2nd day for tidy up on exterior elements, chrome, engine, tyres etc.

Then the dreaded interior duties....  :giggle:

I wonder why none of us enjoy interior detail. It must be that it's too similar to house work :D

Got to agree with that. Takes me 6-8hrs for a one stage enhancement.

Full correction is a 2, maybe 3 stage process & 2 days minimum.

The OP glad to see you did 6hrs on just the paint, makes me laugh when some people do a "full correction" in that sort of time
