Washing Machines

Featured Replies

I just read on the BBC, the head of the white goods association (or something similar), has admitted the lifespan for washers has dropped from an average of 10 years to only 7 years over the last decade; with sub-£300 machines often lasting for only 2-3 years.

Presumably the interview was given from inside his square white office with a big round window.

Actually, I think I think it was a rectangular box with an opening at the bottom; half filled with polystyrene balls.

I think I must've been incredibly lucky with washing machines. I bought a bog standard £170 'Servis' brand machine from Comet in 2002 with the expectation that it might last 5 years. It's still running perfectly today, and never had a single fault or repair in 12 years. It had some hammer in the early days too as I used to rent rooms out to lodgers and there were four people using it regularly at one point in its life.

Probably the same article I linked to a post or two up from your post ;)

not going for a world record or anything - but - I have had my Miele washing machine and meile dishwasher since 1991 and are both still going strong!
