Central locking stops working

Featured Replies

I've had this problem for a long time but is getting worse. The central locking, windows and interior light stop working. I have to pull the fuse (interior light) and replace and tada it works again. When I replace the fuse I hear a relay type click from behind the dash somewhere. I have tried all sorts to cure it but no joy. After pulling and replacing the fuse it might work all day or 5 minutes, even if I don't use the car. Anyone know where the control module is located? I don't think it's on the VCDS system thingy as there are no error codes.

All the things you mentioned are controlled or connected to the convenience module behind the dash.

Here is a link to its location and comments in a previous post

I've now changed the convenience module, but no change. I can't believe that that one bad connection causes the whole system to fail (interior light, door locks and windows). Everything works fine for about 5 minutes then whole system fails. I've checked the front door loom connections they look fine (WD40 applied). Would a code reader highlight any fault code? It's very Inconvenient as we carry a 2 year old grandson in the car and could be critical in an emergency. I'm considering of getting rid of it as the age doesn't warrant a garage repair due to the value/cost of vehicle.  Also the battery drained the other day, I couldn't start the car!
