shark_90's Fabia II 1.6TDI CR75 Monte Carlo 135.1bhp/307Nm Eibach Coilovers

Featured Replies

I've always fancied the Fabia 1.6TDI, I know they remap well (I know a man who does them..) and the Monte Carlo looks great. Fuel economy is a massive win and coming from my last car (Volvo C30 T5) it's was a tempting change.

This car came in to the car dealer across from our office a few weeks ago, I joked "sell me that Fabia" and here we are today!

It's a 62 plate 2012 car with 19k miles on the clock. No options to speak of, it's quite basic which is a shame but it has everything anyone really needs. Ice cold air con, electric front windows and mirrors, three pedals and a steering wheel.

It didn't take long for us to start playing with it, naturally, and it now sports 135bhp which isn't going to tear the tarmac up, but it drives really nicely and really, really changes the car.

The second thing that had to change was the suspension, and thanks to our friends at Eibach who very kindly looked after us on a set of their Pro Street coilovers which has transformed the look and feel of the car. The car feels much more planted now, and the ride is much firmer but not poor.

Further plans:

  • Whilst the standard brakes haven't yet let me down, they're the FS-III type and will have to go in favour of some 312mm discs with Porsche Boxster calipers. This will require a hub change as the FS-III caliper carrier is built in to the standard hub assembly.
  • Rear disc conversion - same as above really, the brakes work fine for normal driving but if I do spend any time doing anything on track, it will help to upgrade them, and of course it looks better!
  • Columbus install
  • Potential Maxidot upgrade
  • Skoda OE hands free installation
  • Wheel change, but as yet undecided on which ones

I'll update as and when I can!

Sounds like just what the Dr Ordered for  the mk3 Fabia, could do with it at launch.

Perhaps you can do a deal with Skoda UK similar to Mountune has done with Ford Fiesta ST.

Surprised no other comments yet, bit early in the day I guess.

Interesting thread with a lot of read across .

shark_90,

Are you designing a job lot package for the Monte lads

Sounds good! Pics are always appreciated :D

Any temptation to fit a bigger turbo? :)

We will certainly be offering all the upgrades we fit to our car, and if anyone is looking for a package then we can look at it!

Huuuuuuge temptation John! There are kits around claiming 170-180bhp.. 200 would be the number I'd like to crack if it's safe, don't know for sure without trying I suppose..

Here it is when I picked it up. Looking clean, but a little on the high side!

It didn't take long to get a badge.. however I didn't have chance to map it on the day I bought it because I had to dash straight out

Mapping came last week, on to the dyno for a bit of out of hours tuning

The eagle eyed of you will notice that the car sits a bit lower in the dyno pics.. more to come on that but a huge thanks to our friends at Eibach for looking after us on some Pro Street coilovers.

The all important curves! 77bhp up to 135bhp

I need 135 :)

Was keeping an eye on that very car as its not far from me and on my list as a possible Furby Mk1 replacement, now I need to watch what you do to it :)

Will the Maxi-Dot upgrade be replacing the cheaper LCD screen?

Very interested in this if you can do it, with OEM Bluetooth.

This looks excellent, but how do mainstream insurers view this sort of jump in power from stock?

That's what I'm hoping to do, fingers crossed. Maxidot really updates the look and feel of the car IMO

Unfortunately I couldn't comment, insurance is a very subjective and individual thing, it would be a case of asking them directly. Sorry!

I agree, my Roomster Black lacks Maxi-Dot, cruise and Bluetooth.

That would make it a far nicer car for daily usability IMO.

Look forward to seeing how you get on. :)
