ESP Problem & Help Sought

Featured Replies

Twice in last two days when entering fast moving traffic the car has lost all power and the ESP light has come on accompanied by juddering and failure of any acceleration. This is highly dangerous as the car will only move at less than 5mph and so it is difficult to even get it to a safe place. Once halted and ignition turned off fully, it restarts as normal and fully functions.

Any suggestions as to cause and remedy welcomed.

What is the engine?

Hi,

its the 1.2 TSI 105 SE.

If the wheels and tyres all look OK, no dents, misshapen etc, I would first check ABS sensors at each wheel. Likely one of them is misreporting. Could be as easy as sensor not fully inserted/mounted.

Thank you for your reply. I will ask the dealership who now have the vehicle to do this. They tell me the onboard software has not recorded these incidents, in other words no record of a fault occuring. Anyone else out there had a similar experience? Seems to me the onboard software is not adequate if it does not log such incidents. It appears that on ignition restart it simply recalibrates itself as all systems are fine. Not good enough as such a fault renders the vehicle dangerous indeed when this occurs as your joining fast moving traffic - a collision seems inevitable. Skoda please note as hopefully someone there monitors these posts...or do they? Luckily I was in the slow lane entering a roundabout and there was  a gap in traffic flow.
