Over 100k on a vrs pd ok?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

Been looking at VRS 170 PD ( prefer the big bang power delivery of the pd having driven both the CR/PD) and budget wise ive got £5.5k to play with.

With a few exceptions most are just over the 100K mark (108k to 139k)  and sellers are asking £5000 plus for 07/08 plate cars, firstly is there any issue with getting one with over 100k if its been looked after?

And is this the going rate currently for them as i'd rather get something lower mileage for that amount of money or is it just sellers trying their luck?

Thanks in advance

Phil

I don't know the going rate but 100K is nothing for a PD engine providing the correct oil has been used and it's been looked after. Ask about the oil or check the service history. The PD are fussy about which oil they get.

Not a vrs, but with a shark stage 1.

Done about 110,000miles.

Off to the south of France next week via a big blatt down the Autobahns and back via the long traverse of the Alps. Does this several times a year usually.

No qualms. No special prep other than a clean.

If it's had regular oil and filter changes then will be fine, nicely run in about now.

I was going to sell my 08 plate vRS PD with 85K Full history for £5750 until the buyer had to pull out, maybe I was aiming too low!! :dull:

With a PD vrs, anything over 100k and I would want to know how much ash is in the dpf (if still fitted), could be a big cost coming up.

+1 !!!

The 2.0 PD170 VRS engine has quite a few issues with DPF's, if it hasn't been done it might be sooner rather than later.

CR engines don't seem to suffer as much, but as you say have smoother power delivery.

Both will do WELL over 100k miles if looked after

Another warning shot for the DPF here.

I'd still own my PD170 vRS if it wasn't for the DPF failing.

Also check it has had the injectors changed under the official VOSA recall.

Based in the rate of ash increase the dpf on my BMM engined 4x4 should be good for 140-150k before it is full.

How does one check the DPF for ash?

You need VCDS, or get a dealer to do it.

Thanks for the advice Guys, thats kind of put my mind to ease a little should I end up going for a higher mileage VRS!

Plan is to remove the DPF anyway which ever car I get and map it out with the added bonus of the extra grunt the remap gives :-)

Still thinking of selling Steveo82?

Still thinking of selling Steveo82?

I would be but when it was last for sale I was selling it thinking I would need funds for the up coming wedding, now not the case as work have pretty much paid for it in overtime!

I would have to think about it and I reckon it's worth 6K all day with it's spec and the full history and recent work done, oh and its been mapped! Maybe after the wedding(Dec) but I suppose I'm open to offers to consider!
