Auto Car Washing

Featured Replies

I use Bilt Hamber snow foam. I polished my car with a Das 6 Pro Dual action DA using the lightest cut Sonus polish and waxed with Collinite. I can assure you that when I snowfoam, it drags off a significant proportion of muck before I even touch the car with a Mitt.

Footnote.. A lot don't like Bilt Hamber because it does not foam as much as some products. Two inches in the lance bottle and top up with water hits the spot for me. Enough to foam the car twice.

  • Sorry Chris but I count myself among the people you tar with that post and what a lot of utter Rubbish. A lot of us just can't, end of! ..........and to be frank it's a bit insulting to say otherwise.

  • Fine, and accepted but those people probably aren't even having conversations about washing their cars.  They would largely see it as entirely irrelevant to their daily lives.  They probably don't kno

  • I wouldn't take it through a car wash if you love it! Wash with 2BM and a wash mitt at the least

I need to wash the car this weekend so will have another play. Will take some before and after photos too.

I've only ever used Ultimate Snowfoam, as I was suitably impressed by it and so still use it. As I said, on a well protected car it works well. Even on an unprotected car, if it is just a placebo effect, it reduces the probability of dragging all the dirt across the paint- worth it for the price of 5l (£14 on Ultimate Finish).

I will try my valet pro foam today and see but of it performs like before I can't help but feel unimpressed. Especially as my car is well protected. Will do a 50/50 on the boot as its munting at the mo :-)

OMG......Please dont!!

Where are you?

£10 at Asda Cribbs Causeway which is the "Pro Shine" version.

Have to say, everything just beads off of the bodywork afterwards and there are no swirl marks that I can see yet.

Would love a detail though, just to see what the fuss is about :D

So detailers please, for the family man with 3 hours on a Sunday morning to wash and hover two cars what products and bit of kit do you recommend ?

I really want a wash'n'wax thats gonna be good, not great, not contours winning stuff just good with reasonable protection and is a pressure washer really needed ? I'd like to have one but £200 a pop, ok the patio and driveway will look better for toobut with a family money is always required elsewhere.

£200 seems excessive mate. You can get a basic setup running for approx half that I'm sure. Then just build up additional products etc as you go! :)

I got a refurbished one from Karcher Direct, £44 delivered :-)

Halfords have got good deals on karcher jet washes ATM. Could easily pick one up for around £89 and if would be a decent one.

I work long hours at work, when I get home I have a young family to attend to, usually sorting my sons tea, bath and bed takes me to 8 o clock at night, many months of the year that is the end of daylight.  I travel away with work, often for long periods which can mean I only get two weekends at home a month with my family, before I even get to enjoy those two I have a list as long as my arm of things that need sorting to keep the house in order.

I am as car proud and detailing enthusiastic as the next man, which I think you know, and when time allows I would spend a full weekend on the car but I promise you when I (and I suspect many others) say we can't clean our cars, well maybe we just can't.

Amen to that :)

Had a go with my valet pro yesterday, lovely clingy foam that lasted nearly 10 minutes but it still didnt remove any more dirt that just leaving the car wet for 10mins and then blasting off. I will start a thread in the car care section so as not to hijack this thread any more

pressure washer wise unless i was foaming i find it a bit of a fuss although we have really high water pressure here so the hose is actually very effective with the right gun on it! if you have lower water pressure then a pressure washer would be a good investment as you can also use it to clean you drive/patio and such

Back to hand washing mine as its a new car. Find it therapeutic, just hope the missus lets me disappear for hours on end to clean it!
