Replacing Daylight Driving Bulb

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has been covered already but searching the forum did not bring anything up.

I have a 2012 Elegance and one of the Daylight Driving Bulbs seems to have blown, reading the owner’s manual it tells me to remove the side of the grill by pulling at the top. Done that as hard as I could but to no avail, I even took the car to Halfrauds and asked the “expert” to replace the bulb. He told me it would not be a problem and when he attempted to remove the light unit from under the car I asked him if he had done this before. He was non committal so I took out the owner’s manual and showed him what to do; he failed to pull it out too but then proceeded to use a lever to try to prise it out. When that did not work I checked for damage, thanked him and left.

Where are we going wrong?

The manual says to first pull the black plastic panel out closest to the fog light, when this side is loose, you then pull on the side of the panel closest to the centre of the car.

When both sides are loose pull both sides together, again out and towards you.

I remember this being discussed before, in the end some brute force was required!

Thanks, that's just what I tried, will try 3 Shreded Wheat for breakfast and have another go.

I had the same issue the other week. Tried to pull it off, wouldn't budge. Applied some heat via the wife's hairdryer and hey presto, it came off easily. Job done, and that's from me who is the Frank Spencer of the DIY world!

I did my wife's car 2 weeks ago. Fortunately it was the nearside (passenger side). I think its easier to turn the wheel hard right, undo 2 torx bolts, carefully pull back on wheel arch liner and put your hands through. Much quicker and easier. Evern warming the inspection flap at the front and pulling hard I couldn't get it off.

Remember you will need a friendly Briskodian with VCDS to clear the fault although it won't show on the dashboard/maxidot display anymore.

Still not managed it, it was porridge rather than shredded wheat, I gave the car a good talking to and told it it would be sold off because of two bulbs going in 2 days and the DDL is back on now and the dashboard warning light off! Suspect it will not last.
