So as the title suggests I have a strange clicking noise only when the engine in cold, I.e on a morning on first start up.

I wouldn't say it was a knocking or tapping sound, and its doesn't happen all the time

I did try to record it but my phone doesn't pick it up over the engine noise.

Anyone have any ideas?

Flywheel ? Does it only happen when its idling with the clutch out tend to go away as you slowly push in the clutch then its gone altogether ? Then that would indeed be DMF. Mines been doing it for 25k, or is it 30k or maybe even more now !

If it is just respect your clutch and flywheel for now, (eg stop torquey accelerating from 1.5K ish and drive it more like a petrol) and you can ignore it til you need or intend to replace it

Hmm can't say I've tried doing that, I will have to try that tomorrow, definitely sounds plausible!

Tbf I don't do much harsh driving anyway, It's coming up to 100k soon so I guess it's done alright!
