Fabia models

Looking for cars for my stepson and just wanting to understand trim levels for Fabia 1s. I have had a search and I think I have gleaned its Classic as the base model, then Comfort, Ambiente up to Elegance. Is that correct??

I'm sticking to the smaller engines for lower insurance. Is it just 1.2 and 1.4s?

Thanks in advance

Adam

There's also Ambiente SE, Blackline, Silverline, Sport, Bohemia (estate only, run-out model)

Don't think there's much difference in trim apart from colour coding and glove compartments etc nothing really noticeable :-)

Thanks. Is the classic very basic?

I have the Classic. Mine has electric windows and central locking. It depends on what options were ordered for the car when new.

Is the classic the only one with the 1.0 as an option ??

In Czech there was a 1.0L 8V and a "Practik" or something or other which was like a hatchback/van which also had optional Manual or Power steering

There wasn't a 1.0 option in Uk

That's what I heard too. I know there was one called the Fabia Junior 1.0, which was so sparsely equipped it didn't even have a glovebox, just a cubby hole instead, but it wasn't available here in the UK.

And look at the delightful non body coloured bumpers :D ...

Having had experience of both the 1.2 and 1.4 -

The 1.2 is a better engine / car all round.

Performance difference isn't that significant for everyday use, 1.2 gives superior fuel economy if driven sensibly.

1.4s have some incidence of headgasket failure, but apparently possibly attributable to using cheap / supermarket fuel and / or the wrong oil (i'm not a mechanic though).

1.4 possibly slightly 'nicer to drive' though, and engine is slighly more flexible.

1.2 engine is also chain-cam, 1.4 is a belt.

Both seem to kick the arse out of batteries though, so I guess that's not an issue related to the engine.
