Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, Iv just ordered a skoda rapid spaceback black edition which I'm very excited about. This is my first new car and my first skoda!!

Think I got a great deal And the dealer seemed very helpfull. Picking it up on the 26th. I was wondering how people are getting on with there's? I have the 1.2 tsi which seemed really willing on the test drive. What fuel econAmy are people getting in the real world? Also ransom question can the blue tooth in this car connect two phones the same time ? The sales guy wasn't sure?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Ger

I am getting 40 to mid around town. On motorway 47 to 50 i have had 54 on the motorway if you keep it about 60mph getting about 540 miles to a tank 55lts

i dont think you can have 2 phones on bt

Cheers! Happy with 40's! How do you find the car in general ?

Getting the same as Skoda1982... 40-45 around town (cold engine, 2-5miles) and 50+ on a run sticking to speed limits with cruise control on and climate control on. As for Bluetooth I've only got one device to work at a time but have 3 device profiles (my iphone, wife's iphone and the ipad). The ipad will be attached to passenger's head rest and play the film/cartoon through the car stereo (makes for a nice change to music from the usb/mdi). As a side note I can listen to bbc iplayer from any device through the stereo using the Bluetooth so I can listen to Gilles Peterson on radio 6 and a Saturday :) it's a very versatile system.

I'm the same too with mpg. Going home tonight in an A road it clocked 52mpg. That was a 50 mph road and I was in 6th gear. I did get 58 mpg last week when I went to Norwich. Excuse the blurred photo the wife was taking this whilst I was driving.

You can have up to 4 phones connected on BT and can switch from one to the other with Maxidot.

I have 2 phones paired, but only one is active at any one time.

My Fuelly link below shows around 40 mpg (best 46 mpg / worst 36 mpg).

Thanks for the replies guys, can't wait to get the car now! Do any of you have the glass roof? Do you find it gets to warm in the sun?

Hi and welcome.

Yes we have the glass roof on our SE, as it has the full Sportpack similar to the Black. Although we collected the car in July I don't think I've experienced the car in anything above 25 deg C, which seems comfortable to me and the manual A/C copes well in keeping things cool anyway.

Only minor negative I've found to date is the low winter sun, which on my westward commute early in the morning, can leave the sun reflecting in the central rear view mirror through the roof glass, not to bad though and I can use the wing mirrors if needed.

Economy on my commute fill to fill is giving around 49mpg, with a steady driving style; car currently has 2k on the clock. If I use more of a lead foot economy drops nearer the mid forties, as does loading up the car with passengers and luggage. Don't think this is bad mind considering the extra drag of 17" tyres and additional weight of the glass roof and extended tail gate glass (not had a problem closing the boot yet :D  ).

TP

The 1.2 tsi is very good for economy, most people are reporting returning mid 40s or above with a mix of driving styles and road conditions.

Thanks The Plumber, good to here the heat isn't an issue, looking forward to getting my hands on it now! How to people find the built in sat nav / entertainment system? it looks simple to use, but some people on the review sites are saying its a little old now.... looked fine to me mind, but iv never had one built in to any of my other cars so don't have much to compare it to, other than the focus i test drove before committing to the rapid.

I love the Amundsen in mine. Sat Nav is excellent and very quick too. My phone links to it as soon as I turn ign on and playback is great with no faults. I don't think it looks dated at all it's certainly more modern looking compared to the Swing unit they put in Rapids. Gives the car a more modern look :)

Hi Stormchaser, thanks for the reply.... do you need to upgrade to the Amundsen? I think that is the one that is coming with my Black Ed? Glad you like yours. Im a little disappointed it doesn't look like i will be able to receive in coming calls from my personal and work phone with out switching devices in the menu. But I suppose it was a long shot....

My Sport came with the Swing unit which I didn't want. I asked my dealer to upgrade it to an Amundsen unit and they just charged me the factory fit price :)

Yes you can only have one phone connected at a time my can as you say switch between them with Maxidot. The phone works perfectly through the HU [emoji106]

I asked my dealer to upgrade to Amundsen he said i have to get it on factory order only. And now saying you cannot have it as accessory

I done 40 miles today on the motorway set the cruise to 70mph for 20 miles average 44.6 and 20 miles at 50mph average 51,8 (with 17 RAY wheels)

Thanks skoda1982, sorry to here the dealer can't help you with your head unit.... must be possible some how.... Im just glad the black edition iv ordered they have included it on top of the se spec it was based on.

MPG sounds good, can't get over the economy on petrol engine these days, iv been driving diesels for a while now so was a little nervous going back, but it drove lovely on the test run... couldn't resist, feels much more refined than the diesel did....

Sorry to hear this too. I told my dealer it's a deal breaker for me. He swapped Head units over with a Spaceback so I could have the Amundsen and the other had the Swing. He then just charged me the factory price. The only one available as an extra is the Kenwood now which is very expensive and a terrible unit I've read.

Hi all, picked up my rapid this morning... It's the spaceback black edition and absolutely love it! Nice drive, impressed with the 1.2tsi Very functional inside with out being to complicated love the nav and bt.... I got a question tho.... This is my first new car so iv nothing to compare it to but the plastics in the cabin in particular the doors seem to be making a lot of noise like clicking / squeaking?? Like the fit isn't right? It looks great and when you are on smother roads it is fine, just rougher / slower roads it's very noticeable..... Do new cars need time to settle in? Ie do the plastics settle down after a while, or are the Rapids a bit noisy ? Or at worst do I have a dud lol ?

Any advice would be greatly revived...

Love the car tho!!
