vRS squeaky driver's seat

Featured Replies

Has anyone else suffered a squeaky driver's seat, and if so, how did you cure it

I know it sounds a bit vague, but it's driving me potty :(

Tried to pinpoint the sound? Could it be a spring?

It probably is a spring, as it comes and goes

Was wondering if a drop of 3 in 1 or a small dab of grease might do the trick

Loose some weight works a treat brimma ;) I. Pretty sure most of the fabias do this in time

Might well do!

Yep, mine does it and so do a lot of others. Theres been a thread about it before.

Somebody said that going from the lowest setting to the highest, a few times made it go away for them. It didnt work for me though.

I just go down a notch when its squeaks, which stops it for a little while, then back up a notch when it starts again haha.

I wish i knew exactly what it was, cos id love to sort it properly.

This was the fix I use, lowest height setting used to bring it out the worst on my car, so a notch and a half above lowest normally unless it came back.

MIne sqeeks too ..... :( hang on..... they were YOUR seats Brimma! lol..... (I just turn the music up...)

They're clearly knackered, you should give them to me. :giggle:

Mine does exactly the same, I do as above, Lowest seeting then go up 1 pull on the lever, Sqeak gone!

I wouldnt do it whilst your driving mate.

I did that, and things got very awkward towards the top. Borderline crashable really.

Did you feel like a giant?

Must have to be 2 foot nothing to have the fabia 2 seat at the highest setting hsha.

5"8 here lol

Sitting up high gives you an ideal of what land rover drivers see. I do have my seat high though as I basicly drive vans for a living and like a high driving position.

Saying that I did have a Cit C1 before the vRS and that felt like I was sitting on the tarmac and motorway drives were not nice (just the view of the 44 tone truck wheels next to the little thing).

Loving the fabia though.

I drive a van too, but driving the fabia with the seat on full height just seems weird. Like the seat is half way up the car.

Oh youd love my mates civic then. Coilovers so low that he went over a bump this morning on the way to work, and no word of a lie, the emergency fuel cut off switch activated because it thought he'd crashed.

He had to wait for green flag to come out and reset it.

I drive a van and find the mk1 seat to be normal and my Clio is like driving a lorry compared to both!

Back to the drawing board, that didn't work

Looks like the WD40 and the grease will have to come out

Squab or the back? Does it move at all when the adjuster is locked?

You beat me to it as I was going to to ask this question too since mine squeaks!

My driver's seat squeaked for ages. Cured by ramping up to the top (for access) then spraying all the hinges and joints with just a little 3-in-1 silicone spray. It's been fine for 2 years now.

I find Just Musics solution has worked for me on my last five vehicles.... Spray all the visible metal bits with silicon spray. BUT please ensure you don't get overspray on rubber mates, pedals etc.

I found the same as many members it was at it worst with the seat on its lowest setting but liberal coating of silicon spray works wonders
