Yorkshire Big Breakfast

Featured Replies

It's not that far off so I thought a quick heads up for the Big Breakfast might be in order.  It's on 12th October in the usual place, Specialist Cars of Malton.  I'm not on Facebook but here's a page related to the event.

I'll be going in one of my cars in a convoy from Scarborough.  There's usually between five to ten of us in all sorts of different cars and despite the growing number of Barryboys who seem to be turning up, it's still worth a look if you like cars in any way.

I found some interesting aerial shots from the last meeting in April,

plus the Youtube footage from the camera

and another video of a few cars leaving.  There's a nice noise at 2:38.

and a Skoda at 5:33!

Cheers,

Andrew.

  • I'm not fussed what kind of cars turn up. I'd just like people to use common sense. It's a charity meet. Not a Max Power meet. Time and a place for loud music.

  • Worryingly I think most of them are adults. The bloke with the Astra is like 40.

  • Few pics I took today:

Will be there Andy, will mention this to Chris (vrs serious) :)

Cool.  I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it is in aid of a good cause and the bacon sandwiches are worth the journey for me.

There were over 4000 people attending the last one apparently but the October meeting can be a little quieter if the weather isn't kind to us.

Its always a good meet, shame the police being their has calmed down the leaving burnouts lol

To be honest I'm pleased that they make an appearance these days.  On occasion some individuals got a bit carried away and tried to entertain the crowds.  The police don't seem to mind people making a spirited exit as long as it doesn't turn into racing up and down as has happened in the past.

Standing on the top road and listening to the different engine sounds is very entertaining though.  There are some mental sounding cars out there, mainly the ones with a 'V' under the bonnet.

Think I'll deffo be attending this one! First time for everything !

I am coming off nights on the 11th but I will pop down as its only up the road from my house!

If it's not raining I'm there this time.

Been when its raining and all the uber stuff stays at home in the dry.

If the weather is good and I'm up early then I might pop over

Not on Facebook - what time does this start ?

Chris

They start serving breakfast from around 8:15, and there are already a lot of cars by that time. There are still people keep arriving all morning, but they start to leave from 11:30 or so. Standing around the exit from just before 12 is good to catch the noisy cars going - and to watch the police speed after the ones who don't control their cars properly!

Weather is looking better for the weekend. Aiming to get there early to see arrivals and get a good choice of parking.

Also making it into an epic drive day.

Wow!  That's some route you have planned there.  The weather is indeed looking good for Sunday (at the moment).  I think we're getting there about 8:15 to 8:30 depending on how quick our convoy takes from Scarborough but after that it gets a bit busy as people pour into the estate and parking becomes an issue.

Looking forward to it. :)

Depending on the weather I might pop along. I've gone to the October event for the last few years and enjoyed it.

I'll be there. Wasn't many Barry's there (in their own cars at least) last time. Dark blue TT with anthracite wheels and a monkey hanging in the back window.

Will try and make this

Dependind on the weather , I may attend .

Watch out for the crafty camera vans though. They put them in spots even a road Saint could get tagged.

I'll be there, though for the first time on my own. It clashes with Formula 1 so my son has opted to stay home! Might just have to eat his breakfast for him :)

Even the organisers have flagged this up

'On previous occasions they have sited speed camera vans on the approaches to Malton, on the A64, the B1248 York Road and the B1257 (the road towards Helmsley) and I would suggest the same is likely to happen this time, so keep your speed down and your eyes peeled!'

To be honest, it's not worth messing around as now the event is getting bigger and bigger the need for the Police presence is increasing.  I'm all for it myself and as the link shows there's a cycling event nearby too so I'll be treating it as a nice Sunday drive and take it steady.

I'll be in the Vectra for this one but I'm two cylinders short to be able to park up with the lads in their VXR8.  :giggle:

I'm all for the police and the odd van to calm down the yobs and racing. But when they plonk them round corners and at the bottom of hills, it's taking the biscuit.

Wakey Wakey folks ! See you in a few.

Good morning setting off in a mo

Did you park next to me Skinny ?
