Vrs struggling to start

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Need some help please my vrs is struggling to start when left over night. She tries to fire up but can't but after 4/5 attempts she does but then for a few seconds she runs lumpy.

I've read that air gets into the fuel so I change the fuel pipe at the top to a clear pipe to see if it had any air in it there is no sign of air at all in the fuel

Hope someone can help. This is my first time owning a diesel so any help is much appreciated

Cheers

Jo :)

Oh I see what u mean its because I was doing it off my phone and wouldn't post.

I've not had it plugged in yet

test injectors!

i had 1 injector down smokey as hell when first started and really rough when cold no lights on dash i got a few lying round if intrested

I would be inclined to do a continuity check on each of the glow plugs.

SN

get someone with a vcds to see whats going on thats the easiest way

Thanks steve my mate plugging it in saturday so see what happens. Its only 1st thing in the morning it does when ive drove it then get back in it then its fine :/

You may find that no fault codes are present, if this is the case then start looking at the engine measuring blocks. Its possible for a sensor etc. to go bad, but still give readings to the ECU that are within spec but plain wrong. For cold starting that could lead to not enough fuel being injected, or the glow plugs not remaining on for sufficient time.
