Resistor too hot?

Featured Replies

Fitted these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-LED-CANBUS-NO-ERROR-LOAD-RESISTOR-4w-5w-6w-W5W-T10-T4W-BA9S-H6W-BAX9S-FESTOON-/300682920786?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4602194352 along with LED lights to stop the error light appearing on the dash. It all works fine but i noticed after 30 seconds or so of having the lights on the resistor is so hot that i burnt my finger on it.

It's all tucked up away in the boot but not sure if there is something wrong with it being that hot?

Yes - they do get hot..... obviously just there to dissipate approx 5W and mimic the standard filament bulb power.

Some options come in a plastic case or are wrapped in heatshrink - depends on the heatsink option used (if any).
