Overjoyed with Rapid 1.2 TSI Sport

Featured Replies

Well, here we are in Sainte Maxime in the South of France - 851 miles from home. A well-loaded "Roger Rapid" brought us here safely, comfortably and rapidly via a little detour to see the Ulster Tower at Thiepval where so many brave soldiers of the 36th Ulster fell and never returned home in 1916.

The car behaved perfectly and has taken us to Juan-les-Pins and the yacht regatta at St Tropez. Roger has just been washed with Fairy liquid (sacre bleu!) Don't worry, it was rinsed off thoroughly with vats of water. The glutinous mud from the Somme needed removal.

Anyone toying with getting a larger car than the Polo/Fabia camp need have no worries - the Rapid is very capable and comfortable for long journeys.

Why drive when there are plenty of flights? We have a wee dog with a heart condition who we can't possibly leave behind!

Interesting. Any idea of the actual fuel consumption your had on the trip down? :)

Ave consumption 42.9 mpg. Driving at speeds up to 80mph in UK and up to 81 mph on Autoroute's (130 kph). Use of cruise control where practical.

Overnighted in Dijon on way down.

Sounds like a lovely trip... My wife and I were talking about a second car (we already have a rapid) and we'd either look at a smaller car (audi A1, fabia or bmw's little electric offering) or an old Audi TT but came to the conclusion that another rapid would be just as good! I'd like to do a little drive round Europe in the rapid one day.

Well, have a safe onward journey...

Try the the 1.4 TSI DSG its another laid back experience and is lovely (mostly,,, I.E. re boooming issue)

Hi Bidey & others, I've just read the booming issue thread & I sympathise with your problem. I have a 1.6 SE DSG, I've had it almost two weeks now, it's a 14 plate first reg in march this year. I have to say that so far we haven't noticed noises from the car. I carry a full size spare tyre (or rather the car does!)  Her ladyship suffers from tinnitus & would have spotted anything like this right away, I can't have UK Gold or Radio 5 Live on because she says it gives off a noise  she can't do with, although the I Pod is OK.

I hope that a solution can be found for you as I'm enjoying the Rapid drive experience. The only thing We're not keen on is the low seats, having come from a Yeti, but we will live with that. I'll be following the threads with interest.
