I can maybe see a TSI SE-L spec in my future...... ;)

Had a look at this earlier today. SE-L spec looks nice. Seems like a huge price premium for diesel tho! The 1.2 TSI 110 DSG seems the engine of choice

I like the fact that the entire range is in the zero VED bracket.

The 1.2 TSI engine is in Band B, meaning free for the first year then £20 a year thereafter, still peanuts though and £90 cheaper than the current TSI.

I agree, the 1.4tdi 105 would be my engine of choice, but not at such a premium!

I'm very tempted by a 1.2 TSI 110 SE-L.

What is very interesting, is there is minimal price difference between the spec. A 1.4tdi 90 SE is £16390, but for £490 more you get the 1.4tdi 110 SE-L. Seems like a total no-brainer. Again the 1.2 TSI SE to the SE-L is only £850. For the extras you get, I can't see why you would ever buy an SE!

They did that with the Rapid, however with the Spaceback the Elegance has been ditched and been replaced with the much better equipped SE Sport but the price has jumped somewhat over the lower spec SE Tech.

Been doing various configuartions on the Skoda website and looking around at other hatchbacks and infact the new Fabia is in a similar price bracket to the likes of Polo and Corsa.

Skoda`s are no longer a budget brand and maybe we need to start accepting the good old days are gone?

The fact that Vauxhall are doing 0% hp finance and £500 free fuel is tempting but I havent found a spec I like or a colour and the depreciation is concerning........however a heated windscreen would be handy at this time of year!!

The discounts that Skoda may give will be the make or break for me.

So many choices in this segment of the car market

I agree, my next car will be an estate so I'm eager to see what the new Fabia estate is like along with prices, I might return to Peugeot if the figures don't stack up with Skoda and go for a 2008.

Another option is a pre reg Astra estate, not too big and because of the depreciation can be picked up for a steal.

The entire range are not Zero VED are they.?

Band B is £0 in the first year then £20 currently,

still Much Cheapness from buying a not very cheap car.

thing I virtually all euro VI compliant cars will be in the A or B band of VED, so most small engined new cars will be much cheapness to run

question is will they be much cheapness to buy and run from a service and maint perspective

Wife is thinking about getting one of these so we went down to our local dealers to take a look. They had one just arrived, looked really nice actually. They couldnt give us discounted prices yet though as they were waiting to find out what they could offer, but said by end of month they should know.
