Brand New Citigo - After market Cruise & Parking Sensors?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I posted a question about this on the Citigo forum but am re-posting on the main forum for more visibility....

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/330929-brand-new-citigo-after-market-cruise-parking-sensors/

The mother-in-law just bought a brand new Skoda Citigo Elegance from Blade Skoda in Gloucester. She ordered it with the convenience pack which adds cruise control and parking sensors to the spec. She picked the car up from the dealer just over a week ago.

On inspecting the mother-in-law's car today, I found that the cruise control and parking sensors are after market!!!

The cruise control is an "AP900" which appears to be from a company called "Laserline":-

The control stick is definitely this:-

And here is the manual that she was given with the car:-

The audio for the parking sensors does not come from the car HiFi but from a little white box on the near-side rear pillar. There is not visual display on funky little PID thingy.

I have an '06 Octy with cruise and parking sensors. The CC control stick is on the indicator stalk (much more natural than having a second stalk to the left of the steering column), the parking sensors send audio beeps through the car hifi and provide a visual display on the head unit. I expected something similar from the Citigo.

So my questions to you:-

  • With proper factory fitted cruise control should the controls be on the indicator stalk?
  • With the parking sensors, should the audio come from the car hifi and should the PID show a graphical view?
  • Is there any documentation on the web that proves the above 2 questions for the Citigo? Please post a link.
  • The reason for these particular questions is that I suspect the dealer will try and squirm out of this situation. I intend to hit them with the Sale of Goods Act 1979: Goods sold must be as described and match any sample you were shown in-store, or any description in a brochure.

Any help/advice is VERY much appreciated.

Thanks very much in advance,

Matt.

if you ordered the car with cruise control then I would complain

The cruise control should be on the indicator stalk (Factory or proper OEM retrofit)

don't know about the PDC on the citigo

Looks like they have made a big mistake there!!

I would suggest an immediate letter of complaint to the MD of Blade, by recorded delivery, either asking for a very large refund, or to reject the car forthwith, plus a copy to Skoda UK, for attention of the National Sales Director.

any update with this?
