Hi guys, just a quick question, I'm having major space issues behind th engine on my felicia, it's a 1.8T from an early a3 with agu engine code.

Is it possible to swap the turbo for the type that's fitted to the inline mounted engines like the passat and a4? I've had a quick look at one in a breakers yard and it appears the exhaust manifold is different, the gasket from the manifold to turbo is the same but it joins on in a different place, all the oil and water unions look similar in their positions, also I note that the turbocharger faces the other way on the inline mount version so the exhaust output flange faces towards the flywheel end which is the opposite to the transverse type, the exducer from the compressor turbine points down as well which means I could just remove the top boost elbow and duct from the back of the engine completely and just join it straight up to the existing ductwork, having the exhaust facing sideways will solve a massive downpipe to steering rack clearance issue I'm having..

Any thoughts guys?

Well I have removed the manifold and turbo from the scrapyard a4, apart from the 2 top oil and water feeds being on a flare nut fitting rather than a banjo it all looks like it might actually fit..
