Well the WD 40 will get an outing after dinner, as i cannot source Plusgas within 20miles of home!

Nobody seems to have even heard of it, let alone used it in any of the motor factors around here.

ECP list it on their Ebay shop according to google,  but not on their website that i could find??

Anyway, assuming the WD40 fails, i'll be Amazoning some tonight - where ever has the shortest delivery time and lowest price!

If nowt seems to get me going, ill be ringing my local indy to let them beat the foxxers off....

Of course, given how solid they are - odds are the entire car would melt, and the wishbones and links would still be connected and unloosened :D

PlusGas - Apply, then go for a teabreak. Most bolts are now loose.

"Freeze/Thaw" action works very well in nature break up the hardest stuff so how about using a can of plumbers "Pipe freezer" and a blow lamp alternately.

Heat-up the joint then (Taking the flame away), spray on the freezer - the can states its non-inflammable. Repeat, as necessary.

If using a flame and/or the spread of conducted heat to other delicate components is too risky, try  3-in-one high performance penetrating spray. I found it to be very effective in releasing seized padlocks etc. Spiel on the can says " Provides rapid penetration even in extreme temperatures -30C to +150C".

Use in conjunction with an impact driver or long-handle torque wrench and best practice is always to tighten slightly at first before attempting to undo.

It didn't in this case- alloy wheels welded themselves to the hubs.

Plusgas is amazing stuff but it does occasionally encounter things that it can't shift. Heat will be the best answer if it doesn't budge

Its the wishbone end i cant get off though, which is threaded....

Im after ringing 2 of 3 local motor factors and neither have even heard of Plusgas?!!

From memory ,it's a mixture of paraffin and graphite grease in an aerosol can. Paint stripping heat gun, with a  small nozzle might be effective.

Would plusgas work on a caliper bleed nipple.

Would plusgas work on a caliper bleed nipple.

possibly yes, but bare in mind the bleed nipple with be a soft metal, possibly aluminium or bronze even... they rot into the threads in the caliper and it will probably just break off flush when you try to undo it.... you don't need to use the bleed nipple to bleed the brakes if you are desperate

True. When I bled the brakes on my Vrs one of the nipples was never going to give up without snapping so I ended up doing it from the brake line banjo bolt on the caliper. Not ideal but needs must as they say.

Thanks guys, this has come about due to a major fu## up from a skoda dealer at its last service 3 months ago. I knew something wasn't right but just couldn't find out what till I noticed a hot alloy and a blue disc.
