Tyre's for my vRS

Featured Replies

I'm really interested in this thread. I had thought I didn't drive like a ******, but maybe I do because I'm on less than 7000 miles and the tyres have pretty much gone, which is pathetic. I'll admit I did do one track day (only am hour but it did take a lot out of them they looked like Lewis Hamilton's afterwards!)

That's the continental 2 I believe so definitely won't be buying them again! Anyway, I have a plan which involves using them again on a track day when they get really close to the markers, then immediately replacing them. Is this a really bad idea? I don't really want to wreck a new set when I can finish off the old ones and have some fun at the same time.

  • You've done 10k with no wear at all to the tyres? Is that 10k on the back of the flat bed?

  • What are you doing man?!  7,000 miles and needing new tyres?  Just rolled passed 11k and still on 5mm of tread, so should go to 20k-odd.   I know that Lingfield road is bumpy but 7,000 miles....!!

  • There are lots of similar threads. People seem to get 8 to 12k from the sc2 tyres on the front.  They are soft. Goodyear efficient grip or eagle f1s are popular choices for replacement

I never liked Conti tyres..

I started this thread to say that my tyres only lasted 7000 miles.. My  tyre dealer told me that... driving around country lanes does wear them out faster than motorway driving.. That why they lasted 10 months..

mine are on the wear indicators, although legal theres no point with a vrs running them to the wire, feel the car loosing grip when taking off now more than it did,its done 11300 miles, getting pirrelis p zero fitted, as it has a decent wheel protector edge on them and road holding excellent with them on my rs1600i escort

It was on my Mk2, but the standard fit SCS2's were swapped at 10.5k with about 2.5mm left on them. I changed to the Goodyear F1 Assy2 and couldn't rate them highly enough - much more confidence inspiring and great in the wet - the Conti's always seemed ready to aquaplane and in a very wet weeks holiday in Scotland the Goodyears never once felt like they were about to lose grip.

I've collected my new Mk3 today and it has Bridgestone Potenza'a fitted - only time will tell how these perform (I've heard varying reports) - the rim protection looks to be almost non-existent though  :S

How many vRS drives drive 25-27 mph

Sorry too sound rude why buy a Vrs ...??

Its called commuting, you think I want to drive 25-27mph average?

And I live in the countryside as well (hence the name Chippenham Wilts) but still have to drive in slow traffic every day,......

Had the contis when it was new and they lasted 7000 before fronts were gone.

Oh and I have just ordered a second VRS so will have two on the drive.

Well I must be one of the lucky ones... who don't get stuck in traffic in the morning,

I have a 5.5 mile drive to work which takes me around 10 mins..
