Citigo Deadline - Times Ticking -HELP!

Featured Replies

If I haven't purchased a Citigo tomorrow I'll have to get a ticket sorted for my holiday at the end of next week. Been doing a bit of research here and there and tomorrow I'll be off to see two cars (with the view to not come home empty handed).

The first... http://www.skoda.net.r66.co.uk/carview.aspx?id=604609631#

If this doesn't sit well, I'll move on to my second option. The above was owned (apparently) by an elderly couple, so will hopefully be in good enough nick.

I do have a question for you guys and gals, though. I haven't owned a car now for almost a year (been walking to work - saving pennies). I test drove a year old Citigo a couple of weeks ago, and after the drive, after I popped the engine hood, there was a faint to strong smell of burning above the engine. It was enough to put me off this particular sale (rightful or wrongly). My question... Is this normal? After you've  been out for a little drive in your Citigo's - if you've ever noticed - is it normal to smell a burning? I don't want to right off the 2nd hand car above if it smells of burning too, especially if it's normal.

If the above falls flat, plan two is to purchase a 3dr Black Edition from my local (ish) dealer. They've advised that they can collar one from a nearby dealer and that it can be ready for Thursday at the latest. £10'090 is a lot of money though :(

The one with the link just seems dodgy in general, I noticed the "tinted glass" and that car didn't have tinted glass, perhaps a query needed there, I've never really noticed any burning smell on my car, was the car you drove a demo? Might of been driven badly in general by other people testing it out, or if it was second hand it just might have been badly treated

i was looking at cars in that range but then with the 0% and free servicing it was easier to buy new the black edition has a pretty decent spec and you can keep your cash earning a little interest

i walked into dealer on wednesday lunch and collected friday so quick purchase is possible

I think the car I test drove had been leased for the first 6-8 months of its life - then Skoda were using it as a demo, yes. The burning wasn't bad, but noticeable to me - a kind of burnt out smell. Might have been normal (ish) but enough to put me off. I hadn't even noticed that the link above showed vehicle as having tinted glass. It's definitely not sunset glass.

I've just clocked your Black Edition within your posts - very nice. I am tempted, I must admit. Do you mind me asking, did you pay full whack for yours? I'm a little concerned if I get one, it might draw a little too much attention to itself. Would someone really steal a 1L Citigo? :(

wouldnt really budge you can get 500 or so off if you use carwow but i wanted it quick i got paint protection and mats thrown in

guess it depends on where you live i doubt a skoda citigo is a prime target though?

i chose black over sport as i didnt want it to stand out too much

Does the Black Edition Citigo have a Sat Nav?

Yes [emoji106]

I had a burning smell on mine but that was due to it being new. My Rapid smelt like this too.

Buy the sounds of it, being a leased car, perhaps the previous owner didn't care too much for it, knowing it'll be swapped for a different car soon enough anyway, I wouldn't let 1 car out of many put me off, test drive an Up! If you really need to, it's exactly the same car at the end of the day, just a few cosmetic changes and a different badge
