Calling all wiring gurus...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm having some power issues with my aftermarket double din kenwood (like it shutting down completely and needed the fuse to be removed and reinserted to bring it back to life...) that I'm trying to work out.

Any ideas why, after switching the constant and the ignition wires, that the radio would only turn on when the ignition is turned on? Weak battery? The rest of the wiring seems fine but I've not yet checked it all with a multimeter.

It may be the case that the HU is TF'd but I'd like to rule out everything else before I shell out for a new one.

Any ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated.

sounds like the head unit could be faulty, its no overheating is it? as for switching on/off with ignition that's normal just make sure that its keeping the memory if not then switch them back, hope this helps

Cheers Derek.

I haven't noticed it overheating but it is a tight squeeze in the fabia so may be part of the issue but it seems to trip off on start up rather than when it has been running for a while.

It is saving the memory but I thought that I'd be able to turn it on without the key in? Perhaps best not though as I'd only forget to turn it off!

Think I'll have to get a new HU and see if the issue repeats itself unless anyone has any other ideas.
