The Octavia is fast approaching it's 6th birthday, so I decided it was high time it was given a treat in the paintwork department

 

It's been covered in swirls for some time now, and I've been trying to cover them up as best I can with various different products, which in fairness have done a reasonable job, but only temporarily cover over the metaphorical cracks

 

I'm planning a few more gold decals in the near future, but wanted to put them on a decent base, hence arranging to take Chris up on his offer to give her a spruce up

 

Arranging it for Sunday, 26th October wasn't the best plan I'd ever had, as the change in the clocks meant Chris had an hour's less time to play with

 

With that in mind I managed to haul my ass out of bed at an unearthly hour which I didn't realise existed on a Sunday, and set off on the 90+ mile trip just after 8.15am

 

 

Here are some shots from the day of Chris at work, and the results of his efforts, and I've got to say I'm absolutely delighted 

 

It actually turned into a mini meet with Andy (Auric Goldfinger) and Simeon (Simbo) turning up during up the day for a chinwag, and even assisting at times with the job in hand. Was also good to meet OllieH who dropped off a Sparco helmet box while I was there

Chris taped off a small area on the wing at first to ensure he was happy with the pad/polish combination - I attempted to get a pic to show before and after, but the lighting wasn't conducive to show it, the difference, however, was clear to see with the naked eye

Chris had to point out that there was a small patch of gold on the bonnet which probably wouldn't polish out

There was then a short break for lunch (many thanks to Chris' wife Jill), then it was back to work on the rest of the car

Chris then applied a layer of his 'special mix' polish, and a sealing spray of Sonax BSD, ending up with this, a totally swirl-free zone

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once again, many thanks to Chris for his time, effort and hospitality during the day

 

Apart from a few inevitable stone chips which were never ever going to polish out, I have a car which, for now, looks better than it did the day it came out of the showroom

It certainly illustrates how difficult and time consuming those 50/50 shots are to get outside 

Thoroughly enjoyed the day, even with Simbo' Holding Court' and making me laugh

I cleaned mine over the weekend and thought it looked shiny but yours is a whole different level. Very nice work and its a shame Chris is so far from me.

Stunning job -- again -- from Chris. :clap: Having said that I know from experience the difference a trip to Chris can make.

That car is looking fabulous and is a real credit to you............................but I do think it would look EVEN BETTER if the roof rails were gold too. Said this for a bit though, haven't I?
