  • I like to think the Citigogo will be up there when it's done. But wether it'll be the fastest Skoda on track or the fastest Skoda to go backwards through the nearest hedge isn't decided yet...

  • 2.0 fabia........no doubt......topic closed!.

Iirc it's the 440bhp Octavia that doesn't have a build thread, or the rapid hire car.

Really? Feck. Bet that goes well! Mk1 or 2 octavia?

Yeah ofc the hire car potentially the fastest lol.

I assume that mk2 octy is 4x4? It has to be, doesnt it?

Id love to roll up at the lights next to an unsuspecting salesman in an audi in any one of those! Haha. I bet its a right laugh?

No it's front wheel drive.

Track cars don't need 4x4 as it's not a 0-60mph pub talk thing. :)

It's mad and he really throws it around.

Adding 4x4 would probably make it slower due to additional ballast.

On track it already runs tarmac spec rally tyres.

Thats mad haha. Does it not understeering and wheelspin everywhere as soon as he touches the throttle? Although i guess rally tyres help that haha.

He drives that on the road too then? I bet that things an animal!

All I can add to this discussion is that mine definitely isn't.

Mines not either.

But now then, we could start one about the 'slowest skoda'

Then we would win!

I would as I've got no engine.

Why? Nobody will realise we're racing...

Very true, I'll be still in the 30 limit

Would that be the race blue Thrifty one which passed me this morning?

In all seriousness though, when talking "fastest" are we talking fastest in terms of top speed, acceleration, time round a track?

I was thinking more of acceleration for the road.

For road driving, top speed is rarely an issue is it. Even my 1.2 will do 100mph, and thats heading for a ban isnt it haha.

Handling is a hard one to say isnt it, no point discussing that as im sure theres loads of people who think that car handles best, as unless they raced we wouldnt know? Thats just my take on it anyway :) aha.

Acceleration is probably the best measure I agree - 0-60 then or is something like standing quarter a better overall measure?

Would be interesting to see, as BossFox quotes, what something like Mr Mayo's 440bhp TFSI Octy mk2 Hatchback; Jason's Fabia Mogrel and BF's Yeti would do the standing quarter in.

Is the BF Yeti vRS 4x4?

Is the BF Yeti vRS 4x4?

Yes, it's 290bhp 4x4.

But it's the handling that's had more time spent getting it spot on.

Which is why on a track it performs so well for a car of it's type.

I don't do racing starts with it as I like my clutch.

That's why I was basing on the UK, there are some crazy beasts out there...

Which is exactly why I questioned whether it was lap time, acceleration et al for the fastest?

For instance, Jason's Mongrel may be "fastest" in a standing quarter against the Yeti vRS but probably the other way round in a lap round Castle Coombe?
