Fastest skoda?

Featured Replies

Which is exactly why I questioned whether it was lap time, acceleration et al for the fastest?

For instance, Jason's Mongrel may be "fastest" in a standing quarter against the Yeti vRS but probably the other way round in a lap round Castle Coombe?

At Beford we were pretty evenly matched, 0.2 seconds apart which is easily won/lost.

On a tighter circuit the Yeti would be quicker, on a longer more open circuit the Mongrel would probably be faster.

I see your point.

  • I like to think the Citigogo will be up there when it's done. But wether it'll be the fastest Skoda on track or the fastest Skoda to go backwards through the nearest hedge isn't decided yet...

  • 2.0 fabia........no doubt......topic closed!.

  • In the UK, the fastest Skoda I've come across is Mr Mayo's 440bhp TFSI Octy mk2 Hatchback. Followed by Jason's Fabia Mogrel and my Yeti.   A number of other cars or owners talk the talk, but don't

What about that orange mk1 Fabia I have seen on the internet, I don't have a link, I seem to remember it being Eastern European, with an exhaust sticking out of the middle of the bonnet, it was going like the clappers on a road rally circuit, blowing smoke out like a chimney.

The bi moto Octavia was impressive though. It should of been left as standard exterior though, 'don't give any clues as to how fast it is'.

That's running similar power to Jason's mongrel apparently.

Acceleration is probably the best measure I agree - 0-60 then or is something like standing quarter a better overall measure?

Would be interesting to see, as BossFox quotes, what something like Mr Mayo's 440bhp TFSI Octy mk2 Hatchback; Jason's Fabia Mogrel and BF's Yeti would do the standing quarter in.

Is the BF Yeti vRS 4x4?

Is 0-60 enough? I always think 0-100mph or 0-120mph is better tbh, or as you say, a standing quarter. I dont think 60mph is fast enough for the fast stuff to get going tbh.

I dont know, but if imagine the 440bhp fwd octy would struggle to get off the line? Would Bossfoxs 4x4 yeti be quicker off the line? (If he were to give it the beans haha)

I guess driver skill plays more of a part on a track too.

Anybody can gun it in a straight line cant they, which leaves it more down to the car IMO.

Fair comments - BF said earlier that he doesn't tend to do "launch control" due to his clutch but if he did then I suspect the Yeti vRS would edge it to start with due to the extra traction but once the 440 Octy got going it would probably overtake. However the higher the target (eg 0-120) then surely the higher powered vehicles would be better?

I think 30 to 110 is a good measure of speed.  My car is a little weird in that it seems to do 70 to 90 as quick as 50 to 70.

We'll see who is quickest in 2014.  I never built the mongrel to be the fastest car in the world - just something I can have fun with, use and abuse, surprise a few people - that's about it!

30-110mph isnt a bad idea actually. Especially if you're runnin FWD? Would it be fairer?

I guess that one depends who you ask haha.

Haa! I bet it does surprise plenty too! Have you ever timed it?

I did mean 2015 lol

I've not timed 30 to 110 but if I can get from 0 to 113 in 13.4 seconds, 30 to 110 is probably around 9 seconds at a guess?

The way most cars are tested to eliminate the driver is 30-130.

Wind resistance would crucify the Yeti, it's all about the corners. :D

I doubt it takes you 4.4 seconds to hit 30mph, my Fabia (running fractionally slower 1/4mile times) did 60mph in 5.6 on a not perfect road.

It'll probably be 10, or just under.  Quckier that most other cars including mine anyway.

Might be surprised with my 2.4 second 60 foot times.  Wheelspin FTL  :(

But yes, perhaps 10mph is more like it.  I remember someone borrowing a Vbox thing and logging a 30 to 70 of 4 seconds with a gearchange.  That was a long time ago though.

0-113 in 13.4 seconds is good going though IMO! Thats pretty damn quick for a car i think.

What bhp is your mk1 fabia? I dont think I've seen much about it tbh

On old bad mapping it did 315bhp with nitrous.  The 13.4 was with nitrous too.  It still did 290hp on just diesel and water injection though.

New mapping and bigger injectors, aiming for a driveable daily 330bhp, maybe more.

Nitrous? Hahaha. I thought it was just stuff you see on fast n furious! Haha.

I bet that things mad. Its only a little car isnt it, in comparison to stuff that usually puts out 330bhp.

Especially in a diesel!

Love it! :)

yeah - It's not like F&F "NAWZZZ" and throw you back in the seat job.  but because it comes out at WELL below freezing - it gives you seriously cooler intake temps - cooler = denser = more oxygen, and nitrous oxide - Oxide - Oxygen = "air" - so all works to give a little bit more bang!

Bottle stays in the garage usually though.  Only comes out for drag events, dyno days, and perhaps a trackday if it needs finishing off before refilling :D

This sounds brilliant!

But do ypu have a red button, under a flap, which you have to lift and press? Haha.

I bet after all the modifying it feels like your own one off special? Sounds good mate :)

Have a look at trap speeds here www.autosnout.com/Quarter-Mile-Car-List.php

You will soon realise how quick that mongrel is

For the record my fabia' best trap was 106mph with road tyres and a heck of alot of wheelspin lol. My trap and ET dont really match up as my best ET was high 14s :(

Just lookin through that list. Using my experience in nissan gtr's and my bikes. Some of those times are mad.

I think my vfr does a quarter mile in 11 seconds (according to most the google links available)

Theres a car there thats 3 seconds faster. Thats insanely fast.

Imagine that!

Almost but not quite - Lift up flap, lift lever to activate, close down flap to shut off.
