Water in the wheel well

Hi folks,

Two days ago I had a puncture needing me to swap to the spare wheel.

When I lifted the space saver and all the associated paraphenalia out, I noticed about half an inch of water.

Any ideas where it may be coming from? I've never had this amount of water ingress in any other car I've owned.

Not really sure, I'll give it a good sniffing later. But it wasn't noticable when I scooped it all out.

In which case it is unlikely to be a leaking rear washer pipe which means water is getting in from outside. The common reasons are usually the seal around the high level brake light on estates, the boot lid seal or the bonding of the glass to the lid. Only way of finding out is taking the carpet out and sitting in the boot whilst someone hoses the rear of the car.

Haha! Plus unless it was right in the line of a rear wheel spray you wouldn't get much water ingress I'd have thought? And it would be pretty manky grotty water

Rear light seals? This used to be the culprit on MKII Mondeos...
