Rear door not actually locking!

Featured Replies

I just noticed that the rear passenger door doesn't actually lock itself, so you can just wander up to my car and get in.

The alarm goes off, so the door sensor obviously works but not the mechanism and I've got no idea how long it's been like that.

It's booked in for a service on tuesday anyway, but now it means I need to be very careful about where I park for the next few days. :notme:

Might be worth checking that you car is actually secure when you think it is....

Well it is Halloween, central locking has obviously been possessed by Gremlins!

I've got the opposite problem...my nearside rear door doesn't unlock when the rest unlock. I'm having to reach around and open the handle. It locks fine though when I lock the car.

Is this becoming even more common than it is on all Fords?!  I thought I was done with replacing door locks when I replaced my Mondeo.  On a ford the micro switches inside the lock mechanism fail, and it ceases to work on the central locking but can be operated from inside the car if not dead locked (does the octy dead lock?).  Repair was replace door lock, took less than an hour but with Fords rising spares prices it was costly, over £100 for the drivers door ( a bit less for the others)

It is definitely only that door? You've not got the unlock settings set to driver only or same side/front only mode?

Thanks for the link. Have now got the car secure at least, though it may well have been like that since new.

Yep definitely just that door. The other side and both fronts open fine.

Mine's getting a new lock fitted tomorrow which should do the trick.

You mean to tell me other people don't walk around their cars 3 times checking every door and the fuel filler as they pass them ?

Where the hells your CDO ?

Sorry, my CDO made me correct that!

But, OCD is just not in alphabetical order and therefore incorrect on multiple levels, do I need to remind whom you are married to Jose ?

Sorry mate, not wish to beat the point to death but, its like putting a Saint before a Royal, not everybody's religious. Grrrrr LOL

Don't bring BMOSW into this!
