Hot air from drivers air vent

Featured Replies

Not sue if I should be concerned but I have noticed that there is a lot of warm air coming in only from the drivers, right side air vent whilst driving. The heater / air con is off and do not get war air coming in to the cabin from the other air vents. Clearly it must be the heat from the engine bay, but is this normal?

The car is a 5 month old vRS petrol TSI with only 3800 miles.

Interested to hear if others are experiencing this issue.

Interesting. Does it stop if you switch to recycled air? Is it even possible to switch to recycled air when AC/heat's off?

I have noticed warm air coming when the air conditioning is off. But from all air vents it seems, and I agree, it is coming from the engine bay. I have not find a satisfactory solution, out of resuming the AC at min. This is with the 1.8 TSI :-(

With the two zone climate you might find if you have the temp set to a reasonable level before turning it off that you end up getting residual heat from the heater matrix...after all the climatic is no longer functioning and controlling the heater matrix.

Try setting it to LO before switching it off then seeing if it happens still, I'm fairly confident you'll then just get fresh air.

Also a nice touch, you can turn on air recirc on the 2 zone whilst off to achieve total block but it resets upon ignition off.

...if youre getting warm air with the temp set to LO but with the system on (AC activated or not) id say thats a bit wierd. I cant say ive experienced warm air coming through the vents.

I thought when the unit is turned off it would be intelligent enough to go into fresh air mode but it does seem if you have the temp turned up before turning it fully off it doesnt do this.

Had this on my MK2 and thought there was either something wrong with it or it might be residual heat from a DPF regen but figured it out eventually.

Could it not be the humid stat, its on the rear view mirror facing the windscreen, keeping your windows from steaming up?

The AC only runs up when needed so no need to shut it down, have a look at you energy use and its L per Km for AC will be zero in winter.

Just tried this morning. Put AC to LO before switching off.

Indeed, no more warm air!

Thanks!
