No Jack / wheel brace?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've recently acquired a Roomster 1.6TDI (90bhp) from a national car supermarket chain, and whilst it has no spare wheel - just the bottle of 'gunk' and the compressor I’m surprised not to find a jack or wheel brace?  Are these omitted by Skoda or have they ‘gone missing’...

BTW my Part Ex was a Volvo XC90, and that surprisingly there is more rear legroom (knee to seatback) in the Roomster!

Skoda don't supply a jack or wheel brace unless you have the optional spare tyre. I didn't get them with either of my octys. You can get a spare wheel kit, which also comes with the expanded foam insert to hold the jack and brace. Their reasoning being if you have no spare you don't need the jack or brace and skoda assist will change the tyre if the gunk doesn't work. Outside of the 3 years warrenty you're then on your own. Most get the spare kit from their dealer or off ebay if it wasn't an optional extra.

Hi Graham and welcome to Briskoda.

When I bought mine, the spare wheel kit (50mph steel spare, jack, brace and insert) was a £50 option that replaced the goo can and compressor.

I consider it the best £50 I ever spent.

Have you discovered you can slide the rear seats forwards for more cargo space?

Enjoy your Roomster.

Thanks chaps,

I kinda guesd that that would be the case; ebay etc it is then as I don't fancy lugging my 3tn trolly jack about and my bottle jack is too tall.

Alternativly I could just 're-allocate' what is in the wife's Ibiza, she'll never miss them...

You can buy the whole tool kit, Jack, brace, towing eye and foam insert from skodaparts.com for around £45 IIRC.

As it happens, less than £40. Admittedly this one is for the Octavia, but I purchased one for my wife's Touran as the very helpful chap at Skoda parts confirmed that the part number was the same as the VW part.

Give them a call and check, but I'd bet that this would be fine for your Roomster

I read that the practice of not including spare wheel with new cars makes the breakdown services unnecessary busy. 80,000 calls from drivers with punctures last year 2014

Mine requires me to have a usable spare if I call them for a puncture.
