Skoda scout ESP

Featured Replies

Hi,

My esp warning light as come on, I've taken the car to my local vag independent garage to get it diagnosed, the result was brake pressure sensor fault, requires new abs control module.

I'm then informed that Skoda don't do the repair kit for the scout and it needs a new unit, total cost for part and fitting £850   can anyone verify that there isn't a kit for the 07 scout, or that it is actually a different module.

I know there are companies that recondition them if you send them your unit, but it would mean having to get a hire car for the duration.

could there be an after market kit ?

any help or ideas on this.

You need to ring Skoda UK before you do anything else.

Despite the car being well out of warranty Audi, Seat, VW and Skoda have been replacing the Teeves MK60 ABS/ESP module on lots of cars for free.

It is a widely known issue and continues to affect lots of VAG cars.

I too have a Scout (2008), luckily mine failed 3 days before the manufacturers warranty expired so was fixed for free.

I've also never heard that the system is any different on the Scout to any other MkII Octavia - I think someone is trying to pull a fast one here.

Contact Skoda as soon as possible.

My Scout reports the ABS unit as:

   Component: ESP 4MOTION MK60-AT 0102

in VCDS which is different to other Octavia's which generally report as:

   Component: ESP MK60EC1   H30 0107

Not sure of the differences though.

Well I've spent all morning ringing round, looks like I've only 2 options,

send the unit for recondition and get a hire car or pay the money.

There is no repair kit for this unit on the early scouts.

doc, good luck with getting it sorted!

Thanks Dunc,

Did you ring Skoda and ask for a gesture of goodwill towards the cost of repair?

My mate at work got the Teeves MK60 module repaired for free on his 2008, 100,000 miles, non-VW service history VW Touran last year.

VW acknowledged it was a common fault, a safety related concern and offered to perform the repair including parts and labour for no charge.

There have been similar positive results from Skoda owners too.

Dealer quoted me £950 + fitting to replace abs pump. I contacted Skoda and they agreed to 100% contribution.

I have a 56 plate 4x4 and I know there is a repair kit available for the ABS unit in my car.  The parts guy at the dealer confirmed it when I bought the car.
