Fabia mk2 Vrs - Condensation

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Sorry if there has been a thread on about this before, I couldn't find it but I am pretty hopeless with the search functions.

Have noticed the last couple of days with the temperatures dropping significantly here that the inside of the windscreen is quite badly affected by condensation. Is this a common problem on the mk2 Vrs, and is there a relatively easy solution?

Thanks.

ps. I'm almost frightened to ask if about warranty possibly covering seals or whatever the cause is

Check the boot spare wheel well and see if it is dry.

If it is just the moisture in the car,

polish the windows inside,

use something like Tesco Wheel & Bumper Renovator £1.99 on the door seals and window seals.

Or Silicone Spray.

Then moisture absorbent packs.

I use Rock Salt in a Marg Tub with holes on the lid, in the car and boot.

Remove damp mats at night and dry them.

I have a Green House Fan heater in mine tonight.

-2*oC now.

The AC will not work in the Morning, it disables its self below 4*0C or so.

PS

On some Fabia,

The rear windows drop 1 mm or so and water comes in.

You need to wind up tight now and again.

Thanks George, I will check in the morning and then try to follow your advice above.

Use your ac all year round, sure it won't do anything when it's freezing but it will keep the moisture out the car when the outside temp is higher. And that moisture has to go somewhere when the inside subsequently drops below the dew point.

And the other thread is misleading, the condensate is drained straight down and out the bottom of the car. The can still be moisture on the evaporator the next time the car is started, the Climate control automatically changes the fan to floor only when first started because of this (obviously without climate this might need to be done manually to stop the moisture ending up on the windscreen).

Very true about the Moisture in the car,

in the seats and air on trips and A/C reducing this.

But if your feet and clothes are wet or damp, and your windscreen wiping pad etc,

and you park up when it is warm outside and it freezes up over night, and warms up during the day,

then condensation happens.

That is quite often in Winter. Maybe daily, and if the car is not used every day and dried out, it can be worse aftewr a few day / nights.

Like last night, below freezing and in the morning 7*oC and raining.

& maybe tonight freezing.

So the idea is keep the car as dry as possible inside.

..................

Also worth keeping the Fuel Tank as full as possible and this reduces condensation that you get between cold and warmer /Sunny

temperature changes in winter while the car is parked up.

Someone recommended.

Pingi Rechargable Condensation Absorbing & De-humidifier . 'Moisture traps'.

Someone else was asking me about what to use,

& it happens i  am using a borrowed car that is very steamy,

i must get some tomorrow to try.

I have stuck a small Polly bag with some Dry De-Icing road salt in the car tonight to help things.
