Haggling on car price impossible with PCP?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just test driven an Octavia 1.2se and loved it. I'd like to get it new and on finance to get the 3 years servicing, but the dealer said if we take the finance he can't take anything off the price. Is that just sales patter and can I haggle, or would I be wasting my time?

You won't get as much. But discount is possible.

Try carwow or drivethedeal

That's the thing, DtD come in at £2.2k off list, and say finance should still be fine, which is a huge difference.

Then buy through DTD!

I imagine I will in the end.

Of the four dealers I spoke to, two refused to give any discount if I wanted the 0% PCP.

One wasn't even interested in letting me drive the car, and the other was more than happy to give a 6% discount.

No prizes for guessing who I bought from.

Try carwow for a quote.

They are talking rubbish! I played 2 dealers off together. Get a price from one and then go to the other etc. Worked a treat for me. Managed to get nearly 4k off my superb and that was still going through PCP. On top of that, I still managed to haggle a full tank of fuel, full mats and they pay for the £80 to transfer my plate. :D

The first dealer quoted me full price and wouldn't budge, quoted them and internet price and then they came back £1 under the internet quoted price. Went to another dealer and told them the figures (but not all of them :x ) and they came back and smashed the original quote out of the water.

Play hard, at the end of the day it is you who will be paying for it.

Good luck.

Try 'buyanewcaronline' - get a quote and revisit...after working out how much 3 yrs servicing is actually worth.
