Toll road tag

Featured Replies

I am going to attach a toll road tag to the inside of the windscreen.

The instructions on the tag says to place it on the shaded area behind the mirror.

Is this the correct placement? I don't want it to interfere with any of the sensors that's behind the mirror.

It must go there, the tollbooth reader won't pick it up if its elsewhere, i speak from personal experience.

Why is this field shaded? Is it less shielded than the rest of the window?

Recently did a 2300 mile round trip through France and Spain and had mine mounted immediately below the black shaded area to the right of the mirror (have my dashcam mounted on the left side) as didn't want to risk it stripping the black stuff off if/when I ever need to remove it, and toll sensors worked absolutely fine through every gate. I have the lane assist camera FYI.

The black shading is inbetween the glass laminates, it's can't be damaged. Try feeling it, you can't.

Put it where you are told - the shaded area -  it works for me throughout France (Sanef user)

On my Elegance the shading is inside. You can plainly feel the dimples.

I can't put my dash cam in this area. The suction will not hold due to the roughness of the glass surface. But toll tags must go there - if you can get them to stick.

Hmmm, maybe mine is different due to the heated windscreen but I can't feel them mine, made sure before I stuck my dashcam on as I didn't want to pull them off....

That would explain it. I half remember something about some types of heated screen being "radio opaque". The dark area on your screen might be constructed differently to allow signals to pass through.

Us poor relations without the heated screen just have dimples to fill the gap between the visors when they are down.
