Lots of them get them at 17 or before up there,

and a new car when they pass their tests.

ST, STI, S, RS, GT, GTS etc. & another when they crash the first one.

Well that wont be long if he carries on like that...

  • What amazed me was. After he did a massively dangerous undertake/overtake... He did exactly the same thing again, but in reverse! Mental!

  • Absolutely - Really should be pulling out to extend the view before actually committing to the manouvere.  Proper driving.

  • Agreed. I do it a lot myself (: Especially in the HTP. That gives me roughly 3 hours to build up speed and assess the situation ahead before i commit haha.

I didn't :P but I agree in most cases "Mummy and Daddy" pay for everything

But there Mummy and Daddies money often came from when the Government paid to decommission the fishing boat,

or several fishing boats.

Yes or re mortgaging the house to pay for that **** this is drifting a bit towards the destined to rent thread now.

Just so he could keep an eye out on the situation ahead before he committed himself.

Exactly.... Plus he could decide on his own moment and speed/accel to pass the lorry once he was sure the van in front was going to make a good job of it.

Yeah :).

Always a bad idea following someone into an overtake isnt it. You never know how long theyre gonna take to get past.

Wasnt bad driving on the camera lorry/vans part IMO.

Agreed.

The tough bit is ensuring you pick a spot within half the distance you can see to safely get back in again,  This is what makes overtakes in lower powered cars a lot tougher.

Maybe the camera car pulled out well in advance to block the golf driver? Doesnt excuse what he did, still a 1st class helmet.

Hope the police take his licence away for that stupid and dangerous move.

Depends if you know the road. If you do its not too bad.

If i want to overtake a lorry and i know the road, I'll perhaps build up speed before the corner. Get around the corner, have a look if its safe, and go.

If its not, I've just Wasted a load of fuel lol.

I dont bother too much tbf. I just chill n turn the radio on. If its safe to go i will, but if its not im not bothered, and I'll leave space infront so i can see. (Which an audi usually dives into at the first opportunity and follows the lorry 6 foot from its back end lol)

Maybe. Infact. You're probably right there arent you :).

If something's behind me ill make em wait, unless its an audi RS, or a GTR. Or something like that, then I'll let em go for obvious reasons. (Cos i know how frustrating it is from when im on the bike. Its feckin annoying waiting for cars to overtake)

WOW some people are really in a rush to see God!! I didnt even drive like that in the bad old days!!!

Wonder if the original is clear enough to read the plate?

Plenty of nutters like this around, there is no shortage

Not condoning the move, but it can be extremely frustrating waiting for a car that takes an entire straight to make a pass when a) the pass could be made much more quickly B) performing the maneuver in a swifter manor would allow other cars the opportunity to make the pass c) this may be the only straight for miles.

As with many of these videos it would be very nice to see what happened before or from a rear facing camera. It could be the camera car moved while the Golf was about to over take the camera car, and the long period the camera car spends on the opposite side of the road is just an attempt to block the Golf as the camera car driver decided it was unsafe for the Golf to make the move (don't you hate it when other drivers try to dictate your pace?).

2 sides to every story (and then there's the truth), sadly we'll only get one side of this story...

You got the Story of the Undertake,

and the Police might be getting more stories & video evidence of how the Golf was driving before.

& people that know the driver might well know this was not a one off,

'Normally he /she is such a good driver'.

So we will see if the Sheriff looks at the available video  evidence if there is a prosecution resulting from the Police Enquiries.

& the Sheriff sitting in the Court and looking at any evidence will almost certainly know the road.

As do all other drivers that use it regularly.

george

Didn't say anything to contradict that George. The driver of the Golf should be prosecuted.

I'm slightly concerned that the driver with the dash cam in this situation may go unpunished for his bad deeds due to deliberate 'loss' of video footage. I really hope it doesn't catch on with the type of driver that will deliberately block overtakes or try to dictate to other road users what is safe and what is not (road captain types). Block/frustrate other drivers and then send selective footage to the rozzers...

Road Captains everywhere now, that is just life.

The Average Speed Camera System in unreal now from Dunblane to Perth on the Duel Carriageway.

The chance of setting the Cruise Control and continuing up the road legally and safely has gone,

because even when traffic is light, there are those that go up the road in the Outside lane as around 60-65 mph with no cars inside them,

or in front or in the near vicinity.

Happy as Larry with front DRL's on and no rear lights no matter the Visibility, Light or weather conditions.

I agree with the dictating of others speed n that, its a pita. I hate it.

But on the other hand, I'll drive for myself. I'll drive in my own way, and if others want to go around me thats fine.

I pull out early for overtakes like that, if the golf wants to overtake me, he can do so once I've pulled in, should he see fit.

If im on the bike, I'll sometimes just stray onto the other side of the road (checking mirrors and life saver of course) without accelerating, just so i can have a look. If im pleased with whys i can see, I'll open up and shoot past, if im not, I'll simply pull back in behind whatever im following.

It might look silly to others, but theres a purpose for it. Just like there was a purpose for the camera car to pull out early.

Imho once the view was clear (ie. the van had pulled in) the camera car should have been 'accelerating briskly', which is not the impression I get looking at the video.

It is called Elephant Racing,

& is very common on Dual Carriageways & Crawler Lanes in Scotland where one commercial Vehicle, Light or Heavy just gets passed a slightly slower one, and they have to break the NSL for their vehicle to do it.

The Average Speed Cameras from Perth to Inverness and the Single Carriageway Maximum Speed Limit for HGV's on Single Carriageways being raised to 50 MPH for a Pilot Scheme has not helped.

They just still Elephant Race when they reach Dual Carriageways and Crawler Lanes, and nobody gets on any quicker.

I don't get the impression he was trying to block the golf but you never know really. Who knows what had been going on before that clip? In any event there is simply no excuse for reacting and driving like that imho.
