Just been behind this BMW and thought i would get a snapshot of it with my phone (was driving at the time so sorry for the quality)

It cought my eye as i thought "I didnt even know they made these"

It is obviously from France (i think) but it was a BMW M6 !!!!!

yes yes looks like it me ... have you been living under a rock lol? its only been one of the most hyped cars of 2005 and most antispated BMWs since the M3 went on sale... running at around 500bhp and 19" wheels as standard its a beast!

That said, bigass v10 - quite nippy both on and off the straight!

On another BMW related topic.... i got rather shown up by one yesterday..

had a muppet in a 5 series sat on my bumper on some nice twisty roads.. thought "ok, ill overtake the car infront, then have him".

so, i overtook said car... beemer still glued to bumper, i pulled back in, and the beemer just flew past me, as if i wasnt moving!!! (i was full throttle in 4th at about 70mph when i pulled back in!)

It was a 535d!

respect to BMW for creating a uber-diesel

535d's are mega fast!! 280+ bhp and 500+ nm torque IIRC

Saw a M6 at the Nurburgring last weekend,it had a aftermarket full stainless exhaust fitted and it sounded amazing,especially when it came screaming past me as i was acclerating out of Aremberg corner into the Foxhole!!!!

Just had a look at the spec for the 535D (dropped in Google).

Yeah that ought to beat out most cars

Considering how easily the Furby is able to shift, that thing has near enough twice the torque again (and a fair bhp advantage too).

Strangely the 0-62 are 6.5 secs, which on paper is about 1.5 secs faster than the Furby vRS (standard) IIRC?

Either way, it should be fast

0-60 isnt relavent for a diesel

TG had a test of it vs the 545 petrol... the v8 won, but there wasnt much in it... but still comparing a 3.0 diesel to a 4.5l v8... shows how far technology has moved on

Kept up with a BMW M6 this morning for about 3-4 miles at least* .Sounded absolutely phenomenal.Normally I slate powerful BMW engine noise but this thing sounded amazing.

*We were both hampered by the West Midlands Travel bus at the front of the Monday morning traffic though.We must have topped out at 23 mph

I made sure an M6 stayed behind in a cloud of smoke as he was trying to go via the hardshoulder (!!) to get past in a 30 mph area where workers were on the road. P*ssed him right off that I blocked him, and he decided tailgating would work for him.. Shame he didnt like doing 10 mph and that I ensured he could not get through the traffic lights that time - a bit later on he shot past doing way, way over 100 mph. I can only hope he got caught speeding, as this person was driving like a total lunatic.

Very fast car though, no doubt about that, and when driven like a normal person I'm sure it's awesome

the diesel on TG was a new 545D that BM have built to basically give a more or less direct alternative to the 545 v8.

the 535D has been around for some time now.

M6 uses the same 5ltr v10 that the M5 has running the same power, the M6 uses a carbon fibre roof to reduce weight though and is apparently quicker and better to drive than the M5.

all according to EVO magazine.

i read the article on the M6 vs Clio Trophy. they said the trophy was an amazing hot hatch that almost matched the M6 and did corner better through the twity'est of corners on the route they had, the only problem for the clio was the M6's shear power and acceleration which it was no match for. basically they said the clio could JUST live with the M6 when you were working both cars through switch backs and slow hair pin corners but was blown away come straight and fast sweepers time.

to be honest the 2 cars shouldnt be compared they're from 2 totally opposite sides of the car spectrum.

i'm not slagging the clio, the trophy and cup are awesome cars for what they are, they are simply not in the same class as the M6.

Erm sorry Nigel26.. The engine wasn't a 545d it was a new twin turbo 535. The unit is onlt 3L as well is the biggest diesel BM do in the 5 Series;

Err sorry take that back the 545d does exist, just not for sale in the UK. BUT topgear tested the 535 twin turbo not the 545.

Let's face it 0-60 mph isn't very relevant for anything. 40-70 or 80 mph times would be more useful in the real world.
