Insecure Webcams - OctaviaRS

Featured Replies

A Russian website has been found hosting a load of links to insecure webcams worldwide, it lists more than 500 in the UK.

I managed to trackdown a link to the site, I'll not post it here. But fresh on page one for the UK is this one.

Of a vRS in Arnold. More worrying is that at the bottom of the page it show a map with the rough location of the camera.

So if this is your vRs make sure you secure your driveway webcam with a secure password and not the default one.

Is this insecure networks or is the actual camera at fault? I've personally always hated my webcam facing me, I always turn it away when I'm not using it or cover it up with my spare tin foil hat :D

its people setting these things up but not changing the default password, so anyone anywhere can access the camera. These are typically standalone IP cameras as opposed to laptop webcams which require software to be open for them to work.

This is the problem when people don't understand what they're setting up.
