fabia 3 Vs new Polo

Featured Replies

I'd go for a Swift Sport myself but the lack of a spare wheel is a deal breaker. I think I read somewhere there's no room for a spare-wheel well due to the exhaust layout.

I'd just buy an aftermarket wheel and just leave it in the shed so I had something to bolt on

How are people coming to the conclusion that the Polo is cheaper than the new Fabia? Doesn't look that way when you try the VW configurator..

simple if you check what is included as standard on the Polo then spec the same (eg 1.2tsi 90 5 door SE) fabia you get an interesting figure, the fabia comes out over £1000 more expensive

also look at the cost of options £400 for front and rear parking sensors and cruise on VW, skoda is two option front and rear sensors £450 and cruise £180, many more examples

options like spare wheel are all std on the VW

so in many respects the polo is better value than the fabia3

What's on the Polo then which isn't on the Fabia? I could only see rear electric windows and the spare wheel as you mention..

Acoustic front and rear parking sensors £450.00

Cruise control £180.00

Front fog lights £170.00

Hill hold control*** £60.00

Maxi DOT trip computer £190.00

Third rear headrest £50.00

The Fabia already has Maxi dot, but add the rest and it comes to £14300.. cruise & parking sensors is a £400 option on the Polo and if you add curtain air bags and passenger airbag deactivation which are standard on the Fabia it comes to £15450 before discounts, and it's still missing Mirrorlink.

Not night and day but I don't think you can call the Fabia more expensive.

The gap gets bigger if you go up to the SEL although you can't get LED lights on the Fabia.

I'm a bit disappointed/surprised that rear electric windows and parking sensors are still options on the Fabia SEL though!

I had missed the maxidot on the SE

the cruise and park is £400, but on the fabia £450 for park and £180 for the cruise making VW £400 vs skoda £630 a premium of £230 for the skoda options

On the last page of this road test in the 'what next?' section it says, quote ' Efficient greenline and hot vRS versions  of the fabia are to follow' !!

But whether you spec them on both cars or you don't, the Polo is still more expensive.

It is a choice though, so you pays your money etc .......

Or just go elsewhere and look at Kia's, Toyotas, Fords  and the likes and see if there are small family cars with a better interior quality

and the items many expect as standard at a good price.

Proper for 2015 on Euro 6 Engines in new type approved platforms rather than just an updated for the 2nd or 3rd time platform.

People buying Keepers might do OK, but if the all New 3rd Generation Fabia is like the Rapid & Rapid Spaceback

they are likely to be big on depreciation.

Skoda becoming like Seat in that respect.

Not in great demand as a used vehicle after the Manufacturers Warranty expires.

Time that Skoda UK did 5 Year Warranties on their product if they are sure on the quality & reliability.

If Skoda have no faith, why should Used car buyers.

So...."Close, but no cigar"

Buy a Fiesta

This is very disappointing from VW - no real completion to Fiesta, except 5 dr bigger box space, DSG and I would say better fit and finish.

The Skoda Fabia mk3 would give them far more options to compete imo.

If you want 3 doors and manual then maybe buy a Fiesta ST over the 3 Door Manual Polo GTI.

There is a lack of near 200bhp Petrol Manual or Automatic Estates at under £20,000.

There are a few Warm or Hot Estates out there,

but a bit short of choices with an Autobox, & under that 20 grand figure new.

Totally agree - missed opportunity by VAG in my book.

There don't seem to be any major issues with the 140ps or 160ps twin-chargers used in Polos, Golfs and Sciroccos.

140 would do me fine as I mainly just pootle about; my 180 doesn't have too much to get stressed about!

Are u joking? Its one of the worst VAG engine for years, ridicously unreliable. U had luck with it. The newer 1.4 TSI 140/150 is much better.

How do we know how reliable a 2 or 3 year old ACT or COD 138 or 148 BHP engine will be until they get to 3 years old.

Lets see how they get on with UK Franchised Dealers Servicing them.

the 1.4 TSI Twincharger 150 ps as used in the Seat Ibiza FR 150 ps is pretty reliable.

They were obviously rolling test beds for VW.

I wasn't aware of any major problems with the 140s and 160s; the 180, obviously, yes.

Not sure why the need for such an aggressive tone.

I might stay with Skoda if they had a reasonably powered version with DSG and paddles on the steering wheel.

Not made at the moment, I believe.
