fabia 3 Vs new Polo

Featured Replies

LOL.

Many many do actually.

Because they do not haggle or they are getting them on the likes of PCP.

Many even let the Salesperson sell them more, GAP, LIfe Shine etc.

depends some pay retail, but negotiate extras or a good deal on the part-ex

some dealers wont budge on the price of the car, but will give more than book for the part ex, or throw in some extras (cheaper for them as the difference between trade and retail of accessories doesn't cost them)

the important thing is the total value and what you got it for

well, looks like the test drive is off, after telling me they had a TSi 90, I offered me a TSi 110 or the 1.0 75ps polo for test drive

what is the point of testing a different engine, and I suspect the 90 is the most popular so time to walk away for now,

not desperate to change, but the £1000 deposit contribution etc made it an interesting offer and cheaper than the fabia 3, oh well, lets see what offers skoda come up with after xmas when the next quarters offers come online

I'm starting to plan ahead - my Fabia will be five years old next September, so time for a change. I can get a Polo Blue GT through the work for a not unreasonable monthly cost - bit of a drop in power (180 to 140) but the Polo is still no slouch and it comes with DSG :) .

will that 40ps drop make the engine more reliable due to less stress?

will that 40ps drop make the engine more reliable due to less stress?

There don't seem to be any major issues with the 140ps or 160ps twin-chargers used in Polos, Golfs and Sciroccos.

140 would do me fine as I mainly just pootle about; my 180 doesn't have too much to get stressed about!

The 2014 Face Lift Polo Blue GT 1.4 TSI is 148 bhp (150ps)

Nice. Pricey wee bugger though!

Indeed they are rather expensive.

Probably why they are not selling well.

& we need to see how the Technicians get on with servicing and maintaining these Cylinder Deactivating / Cylinder on demand engines,

ACT / COD

I hope VW have them understanding the Service Schedule on the Spark Plugs,

and any faulty ones are dealt with Promptly and Properly.

Only time will tell if VW got them right for 'long time mister'.

Tuning box on polo act 150bhp should bring it to 180 :)

It will be interesting to hear from anyone that has put a Tuning Box on one.

(That seems a Warranty Risk just a bit too far.)

1.4 TSI (Turbo) 150ps

ACT / 'Active Cylinder Technology' or COD 'Cylinder on Demand' engines.

The Power Outputs, 0-62's Top Speeds. MPG's & Emissions are all a bit hard to make sense of.

The last ones were 140ps, these are now 150's

Then there are Manuals or Automated Manuals (DSG)

But basically the Seat 1.4TSI FR 150 ps DSG Twincharger which was lighter seems to not be as good as the more expensive VW Models

with the new turbo only engines.  Well not by 'Official Figures' from the Manufacturers.

I see the weights vary where you read them,

but one thing seems to be common, these cars get 215/40 R 17 tyres as standard.

They do drive nicely,

& a Seat might be a good way of getting one without the Premium you need to pay for them from VW.

the only thing is Seat have not released the new car like the new fabia or new polo so they appear to be behind at the moment

it is interesting, VW are the traditional 2nd place in VAG and skoda 3rd

BUT

VW appear to be better value and looking at the option prices cheaper than skoda, but skoda have a more flexible option list and have factory fit tow-bar which VW don't on the polo (also no estate option on polo) but the prices are higher on list

so it still have to actually sit in either and decide which fit my criteria, I think it is now wait until January and see what the next offers are on the polo and hopefully the first offers on the fabia

They Face Lifted the Polo in 2014.

they are Facelifting the A1 now.

They Face Lifted the Ibiza in 2012

& gave some new engines more recently.

So maybe a proper All New Seat might be launched before a New VW, Audi or Skodas are.

New Polo due end of 2015 and a heavily face lifted A1 has been seen testing too.

I believe there's a new Ibiza due out after the Fabia but there's been very little detail as yet, it would make sense as the new Leon is out along with the Toledo and Mii, the Ibiza being the oldest model inthe range, even the Alhambra's new.

VW are likely to let the dust settle after the Fabia then turn their attention to the Ibiza before the fanfare of the new Polo.

The orderbooks are open now for the Facelift Audi A1 for 2015 delivery.

The biggest problem with SEAT has been and still is their dealer network. A hotchpotch of random multifranchisers....

I have to agree with you there, the last time I went in to see about a deal they never rang back as promised.

Seat's head honcho in the UK has just secured loads of money from Seat HQ to transform all of the dealerships and provide training as they came almost last in the latest JD Power survey for Customer Service.

my local seat dealer also has citroen, Chevrolet and kia, having experienced there service many years ago when I had an old citreon BX I doubt I would consider them

Dealerships only sell you the car, and service it if you let them,

and there are plenty of different Dealerships if you do not like any particular one.

I just want the car delivered and the PDI done properly.

No interest in paying extra for their Waiting room, Coffee Machine, what the Employees/ salespeople get as Loaner Demonstrators,

or as bonuses.

Premium cars for a bit more money is fair enough.

But once i have a car delivered, i really do not care about how the Dealership gets its Franchise,

& if they sell the Brand i bought, and also Citroen/ Peugoet & Renaults / Dacia.

Skoda UK and the Brand Director Alasdair Stewart are not that fussed at how Customers are treated

by their Franchised Dealers or sorting out the ones with poor or pathetic Customer Services,.

or after sales Customer Services.

& the 'Black Hole' ordering system is pretty bad and needs sorting out.

I like a Honest Salesperson & that is not always easy to find.

Going to VW, Audi or Skoda Dealerships certainly does not guarantee getting one.

I can't fault the Dealership or the salesman where I bought mine from, did all the haggling via email and only went in to the showroom when it was time for a test drive and pay the small deposit.

They too are multi franchise but have separate showrooms for each marque and I've always received good service, even with the warranty work on the Monte.

As soon as they get the new Fabia in I'll pop up and have a look, there's plenty of different Skoda dealers within a 20 mile radius so if one doesn't play ball I'll go to another.

To be honest, I'll go to the one that offers the best deal rather than free coffee/flowers for the wife, I'll be waiting until the offers start coming out rather than the car itself before I start shopping around though, nice TSI 110 estate in silver hopefully.

How are people coming to the conclusion that the Polo is cheaper than the new Fabia? Doesn't look that way when you try the VW configurator..

I saw a 60ps for sale with the 'R' body kit - show and no go! Did look smart though.

Ideal for the hip granny who wouldn't be seen in anything as common as a Corsa or Fiesta.

Configurators give you the RRP price, and the All New 3rd Generation Fabia is not available yet to see , feel and touch.

The Face Lift VW Polo is here and now and ready for discounts as VW Dealers struggle to sell them.

The All New 3rd Generation will no doubt go the same way next year.

There are hardly going to be queues of people waiting on buying this range of rather boring cars.

They might be the way of the Rapids & Rapid Spacebacks,

a bad Design & engine choice too far.

Looking at the Autoexpress Comparison from last week the 1.2tsi SE version of both (with same power engine) were about £800 apart, with the Polo being more expensive and missing the £160 Mirrorlink.

So in real terms the VW Polo about £1,000 more.

It's going to be worth more as a used car, so in terms of real cost I'd say there is little in it, which means it comes down to what you prefer.

Autoexpress clearly prefered the Polo as it was nicer inside and drove a bit better.

Skoda have nothing I want for at least the next few years.

Me either. When the Audi and Fiat are gone then it's back to Suzuki for me

and Mrs grr. This time around we will be sharing a car since ours are NEVER

on the road at the same time so pointless having 2 cars. 99% sure we will buy

a 13/14 plate Swift Sport. Looked at the Abarth 500 but this seems a better choice.

We had a 900cc Swift as Mrs Gs first car on an 02 plate and it was great value and

fun to drive. I ragged it everywhere.
