Oil Change in 20 days

Featured Replies

This may well be a case of RTFM - in which case apologies, but I'm at work and there's no FM to be R'd at the moment.

Turned the ignition on today and the maxidot beeped and said "Oil change due in 20 days!" or words to that effect.

Only had the car since Feb (about 6000 on the clock) and would've thought that it'd be able to survive the first service interval before needing an oil change. Does this mean that it's detected the oil's dirty or that the level's low, or is it something else?

I may be wrong but I believe the first servive is at 15,000km, or 9600 miles. Maybe 20 days is how long the car thinks it'll take you to get to 9600 miles?

Is the car on fixed servicing or variable.

If on Fixed and 372 days / 9,400 miles (10,000) then it might not have had the Service Indicator correctly reset.

If on variable then you best find out why it is due in 20 days if the Oil & Filter were changed 6,000 miles ago.

?

Did you dip the oil when you collected the car, to see the level and its condition,

& have you checked the level since or now?

Is there a next service sticker on the car from the selling dealer. Driver or passenger front door frame usually.

Also inside service booklet-what figure is quoted.

So you usage schedule is about 7500 per 12 months, that reason and not a low usage.

As George suggests setting not correct.

But your car details show a 2013 model....  so it looks like it must be nearly a year old??? I'm assuming you mean that you bought the car in Feb used with 6000 miles on it?

I would imagine the service indicator has been set to fixed interval servicing and the car is telling you that in 20 days the one year service is due??

Whoops... I'd better sort that out. I still keep thinking it's 2013 THIS year. Keep dating letters at work 2013. Car was bought new in Feb. I'm an idiot.

It's on fixed servicing - I think it may well be the service indicator which has been set incorrectly.

Looks like it - get it in to the dealers for them to correct the service schedule.
