Anyone fixed the water leak in the boot ?

Featured Replies

My spare wheel well was filled with water in April, I then checked it for a few weeks after and it was fine. I again checked last week and again it was full of water. I put down paper towels in the boot hoping to find where the leak was coming from but again water was in the boot today and paper towels were dry.

My mate advised me to put talcum powder (!!!!) in the boot , so that's what I've done today, so let's see if that can see where it's leaking from.

But has anyone found where the water is coming in from yet ?

Thanks !

If your car has had crash repair in that area then a weld or seam may be porous.

Try taking everything out of the boot including carpet/trim.

Look for rusty 'dribble' marks using a bright light inside the boot. Not heard of other boot leaks being a common thread.

Maybe the seal under one of the rear lamps.

It might be coming from a leaking rear wash/wipe pipe.  A fairly common problem that affects quite a few VAG cars.

No it's not windscreen wash, it's clear water. Thanks for replying.

I've just removed both rear lights and the air vents below them look like they need replacing. The rubber seals have broken..

Any rusty 'dribble' marks inside rear lamps?
