Vrs long term ownership

Featured Replies

If an engine change should they change the engine code in the sticker on the boot and on the drives side centre pillar too? Sorry if it's been asked before.

They are supposed to, and have on some cars that had replacement engines.

Sticker on engine matches sticker in Boot & Service Book.   They were sent with the engine.

PS,

sharkrider, the ground off casting on your engine casting is neater then they used to be.

the VOSA Examiner at the road side was called over by the Officer that was checking mine,

& neither believed that they came from the factory like that.

I pointed out it was not the Engine Numbers, just the Block Code.

if its cast alloy its may never be brilliant, but VOSA should know (checking for forged digits/plates ect) that its not an official ID lol....

what phone are u using george? if its an iphone you can focus by tapping the screen where you want it to be sharp! ;)

I believe they are all made by audi in their factory in germany (thats what the tour guy said when I went to the skoda factory in malada bolslav.)

Not a vRS but a Polo CTHE I've had use of since Monday, I absolutely love it, didn't want to hand back the keys this evening. I couldn't use it as my only car, I got a bit worried loading tools in the back in case I dirtied it up. If I had the money would I buy a CAVE / CTHE engine? Yes in the blink of an eye! Would the oil drinking press put me off one? No, worse things happen at sea, there's always a solution for something. I'm quite taken back by this lovely little setup. Driven a vRS before but only very briefly unlike this week test in the Polo

And with a few choice mods they handle and stop well too :) I love this engine/ gearbox setup ! Best car I have ever owned .... Did 50k in a 60 plate cave car , and 31k in my current cthe estate ... Think this ones a keeper :)

Only problems I have has in that 81k of ownership is a track tod end on the old car due to a slight knock, and plugs in the new one :) neither have used much oil !

Shark rider.. What mods have you got on yours for the handling and the braking? I was looking at stage one remap but.. I don't want to blow it up.. But I reckon handling mods may be the way to go.. I know sparkly did quite a few bits to his.. His was mean in the end!!

Indeed it was ! I have standard discs but yellow stuff pads and ATE blue racing fluid. H&R RARB , eibach springs ...

Hopefully for next years track season I will add H&R FARB , and bilstien dampers , in the future poly bushing , when warrent is out engine :)

Check out "phantom" in the projects section :)

I think the cthe is fast enough for now , I never really loose out on the straights on track , but I will be looking for about 270 bhp when it's finished ....

But trust me , just the RARB and some track tyres make a world of difference !!! Springs too and it even looks ok ! Lol

Imo it really does go fast enough ;)

Well Evo mag pitted a polo GTI against a Vxr corsa a mini jcw and some other 200 bhp + hatch (can't remember what) and the polo beat them all to 60 mph, and to the quarter mile !

Here is quote from the quarter mile thread

I managed to run a 14.7 @ 93mph, 0-60ft in 2.3 secs and 0-60 in 6.6 on York raceway earlier on in the summer. I was quite impressed considering my cars completely standard and they're supposed to run a 15.3 i think!
