Would Audi A4 Spare Wheel Fit Octavia?

Featured Replies

Just a thought, didn't get a spare wheel with the car and did enquire afterwards about buying one but price quoted was about £150 for a full sized steel wheel with some narrower kind of tyre on it. Skoda don't seem to offer space saver wheels as an after market option.

Noticed someone locally selling this for £100 : Brand new space saver wheel with new tyre, size 125x80x17, 5 stud, to suit Audi A4.

Plus jack and wheel replacement kit."

I'm assuming that all VW Group cars have the same 5 stud setup and if that is the case, this wheel should also fit the Octavia, both being 17 inch. I don't really like the idea of not having a proper spare wheel in the boot just in case and the can of foam supplied would seem more than likely to be

an expensive mistake if I used it and had to replace a perfectly good tyre because the garage could not or would not clean all the gunk out!

There are two stud patterns 5*100 and 5*112.  The good news is, the A4 has always been 5*112 and the Octavia has been 5*112 since the mk2.

The only issues to overcome are to check the offsets of the two wheels but being a spare, I would 99% say the A4 wheel should fit fine. :)

Thanks for that, will try to get a look at the wheel if it's still available. It doesn't seem much to ask to get a spare wheel instead of a can of foam when you buy a brand new car!

I've had punctures before in very remote locations where no amount of foam would ever have helped rescue a completely ruined tyre, hate to think how long it would take Skoda to rescue someone in that situation.

Agree mate,i got a puncture to the side wall a few years ago,a tin of foam would have been next to useless, unless used as a plug, if the audi wheel is going on the vrs, check it will fit on the front, with the vrs bigger disc, it probably would, but worth confirming before purchase

Could always put the space saver on the rear and move the rear to the front if you got a front puncture. More of a faff, but an option.

OP the 1.6 TD elegance detailed in your car section of membership details will take a full size spare, that spare being a steel R16, 205, 55 or thats certainly what my March 2014 Elegance was supplied with.

No need for space saver or worrying about what front brrakes it will or won't fit over.

Took a chance and bought the spare, its never been used, came off of an Audi A4 Estate, if it doesn't suit I'll just sell it on again. Can't see the point in having a full sized 16 inch steel wheel when you've got a car with 17 inch wheels as you're not going to be able to drive at over 50mph anyway either way. All it means is that you're going to be carrying a lot of extra weight with zero benefit, different if it was same size of wheel as car was supplied with though. I had a space saver spare wheel on my last car, which was ideal, it gives you the chance to change your wheel and get on with your journey.

I would have specified it with a spare wheel if I could have originally but in September last year I was given a massive choice of exactly one diesel Octavia Estate in Elegance spec with no options available as there were no stock cars left in Britain. My car was just out of the factory, quite annoying really that you have to go to all this trouble to get something which the car should have had as standard in the first place and probably does in other markets!

Only issue now is how to get the wheel into the boot as it obviously won't fit over the standard polystyrene storage thing the car currently has in the lower part of the boot and the variable load floor seems to be blocking me taking that section out! i'll have another look at it in daylight and see what I can do with it, but it does look fairly firmly wedged in.

I don't know if what you've brought will fit your car but, I don't think you'll lose money on it at that price.

Just had time this morning to try the new wheel, it fits perfectly! Very easy to jack the car up and take off back nearside wheel and put spare on in its place. It is exactly the same height as my own wheels, quite narrow but perfectly fine on the back wheels, think I'd want to avoid using it for any distance on a front wheel though.

One slightly worrying thing is the fact that all 5 bolts on that wheel came loose with very little effort at all, a gentle push was all it took. I've had cars before where I had to jump on the wheel brace with both legs to loosen off stubborn bolts. Think I need to check my other wheels now to see how tight the bolts are on them!

Managed to get foam insert out of the boot too and new wheel is wrapped up nice and snug under first shelf in my variable load floor. I did struggle to get the bolts back into the alloy wheel again though as they are quite recessed in and the hub part seems quite small, which meant the wheel kept falling off of it as I was trying to put the first bolt back in, guess I need practice but hopefully not too much!
