Revo - OBD PORT FLASHING- ECU REMOVAL NO LONGER REQUIRED

Featured Replies

Revo has this news about ECU flashing:-

We are thrilled to announce a new evolution of Revo Tuning; our latest generation Serial Port Programming Technology is now in the hands of our Global dealer network giving them the ability to install all currently supported performance software via the diagnostic port without the need to remove or open the ECU.

What does this mean? It means the days of physically removing and opening  ECU’s to install Revo software are officially over! Our dealers are now fully equipped to flash Revo software directly to your vehicles ECU via the OBD-II port. As well as eliminating the labour involved in ECU removal, any risks associated with this process are now completely eradicated. Welcome to an era of No Pain All Gain.

*Pre2013 1.6CR PCR2.1 ECU’s still need to be removed to be unlocked pre-upgrade

Did you enquire if the can do a CTHE by OBD or even opening the ECU ?

I would hope that if they can,  the Remap now is better than the one they had for the CAVE.

This is good news, shame the article doesn't say what vehicles can be done.

Shark performance as been doing this for ages now

Is that on the CTHE Twinchargers ECU ?

Is that on the CTHE Twinchargers ECU ?

read in the shark performance sponsor page

OK,

so i am not seeing what i am looking for.

Can Shark Performance Remap a 1.4 TSI CTHE ECU by the OBD or opening the ECU  & have they?

I spoke to awesome and they said they didn’t know and the only way to find out was to bring the car in and try it.

I also sent an email across to APR to see if they had an answer…. Will wait and see if they get back..

Evan@APR said before they could, then a APR dealer opened a members ECU on a CTHE Engine car and could not.

I've had an official response from sales at  Revo European R&D Headquarters in Daventry regarding if the 1.4 CTHE as fitted to a 2014 Skoda vRS can be remapped through the OBD port :-

ALL Revo software apart from 1.6CR Diesel is port flashed.

Please contact your local dealer for more detail and to save 25%! In current sale – http://www.revotechnik.com/dealer-locator

Kind Regards

We will find out then when some member takes one in to have it done then reports back how it went.

Hopefully REVO have a better Stage 1 Map for the CTHE than the one they had for the CAVE.

PS.

I see that 'sharkriders' question to 'Shark Performance',  in the Performance section

has no reply yet on Remapping a CTHE ECU.

I use 102 ron sometimes for fun days, & have a Switchable APR Remap.

(you can feel the difference from the 99 ron (minimum),  but not all 99 Minimum is the lower Octane,

sometimes the difference is very obvious.)

The Petrol costs me twice the price,

but cheaper than going to the Football or the Opera.

Re the APR Site.

Someone needs to ask APR.

Because Evan@APR was quick to say that they could Remap the CTHE,

and a member went to a APR Dealer to have it done, but they could not, after opening the ECU.

So if they can now do a CTHE by the OBD, that is a good thing if you want it.

If anyone has a Stage 1 CTHE, it would be good to hear from them.

How does remapping affect the drivability of the Fabia?

Is it a case of when the turbo kicks in it's more fierce so pulls better or is it more responsive throughout the rev range?

I found when I remapped my car mid range pull was so much better and made the car more drivable with out any noticeable change in fuel consumption.

The only downside was that driving in 4th to 6th gear below 3000rpm caused vibration like if it was in the wrong gear which didn't happen before the remap.

So I couldn't really cruise around in 6th even at 60mph.

In all I would never go back to the factory map now.

be very interesting to see if anyone has or plans to have the CTHE remapped anytime soon.. id certainly consider it but.. with it being winter right now the car is plenty quick enough for my needs maybe a longer term thing though i must say ill be interested to see what anyone has to say about it..

CTHE still listed as 'coming soon' here.

By the time I am ready to map my CTHE all the problems will be ironed out - they have 3 years lol
