lights help required

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I picked up a new Octavia RS a couple of days ago.   I've spent the past night trying to turn these lights off after reading this in the manual

"Two diffuse lights are integrated in the front interior lighting that illuminate the gearshift lever and the middle of the dash panel. These are switched on automatically when the parking light is activated. At the same time (with parking lights and the ignition switched on), the door handle illumination is turned on."

Seems like they are paired with the parking lights.  But that's as far as I've got.

Cheers

They dim down with the dash lighting, the only way I know of at the moment for turning them off is by physically disconnecting them.

I assume you mean the 2 small LEDs, not the 2 large round interior illumination lights.

On the Elegance I can decide the illumination from 0-100% in the light settings (same place where I can adjust the foot welling lightings).

But does that not dim all switch and dash illumination as well?

Or are you saying you have a separate setting just for the LED downlighters?

Or cover them with tape.

Mine dim with the instrument settings too. Footwell is a separate dimmer setting. The dashboard is crazy bright anyway, especailly when out of town, so I run them on 10% only. The LEDs at that level are just about not noticeable but enough anyway.

Maybe it dims everything? I have to try to be sure.

You are right. It dims everything.

Yeah, I was talking about the two little LED's that light up the gear shift.    As the manual state, they are meant to be linked with the parking lights, which makes perfect sense but I'd rather not have them on the whole time.  If i hadn't found that note I would have given up by now.

The only control I found turns everything down/off.

Two very small blobs of blue-tack to cover them up.

Invisable to the eye and it can be easily removed for the next owner if required.

Not sure if Blue-tack is widely available outside the UK but I'm sure if not you'll have something similar in Oz!
