Fabia 1 a bundle of questions!

Featured Replies

1. headlight removal. Do I need to remove the bumber or front panel? I've undone 2 screws on top and a bolt from the front but its still secure and for the love of god cant see how its still held in!

2. Wing change. Easy job? Description anyone?

3. Rear tailgate, same question. Is there a socket to upplug the wiring to make it easy or is it a case of stripping the plastics off the inner to undo all the wires separately?

4. Can anyone point me at some quality replacement speakers for an estate please. No cutting wanted, just direct replacements. I may consider add on tweeters if needed. Also the side pods in the boot, has anyone located a bass driver in these with any success?

Sorry for the jumbled posts, in a mental rush today!!!

Oh, hope all you guys are well :)

Thanks.

1. Im pretty sure that you do have to remove front bumper to take out the entire headlight units. Technically haynes manual recomends taking bumper off just to change bulbs easier.

2. Wing change there is 3 bolts that you can see when you open bonnet, and one underneath at the back of the panel near the door. Havent done it myself but had it done by a garage, it takes time and adjustments if you want it perfect.

Hope this might help a bit.

It is possible to remove the headlights without removing the bumper, there are FOUR screws retaining the headlights, you've missed the one down at the back which goes through the lower adjuster into the the panel underneath. You have to remove the two torx screws holding the bumper which are adjacent to the 10mm hex bolts you took out of the headlights, then you can flex the bumper enough to roll the headlight up and back as you remove it, release the electrical plug once you have the headlight clear of the bumper, it's much easier then.

It's possible to remove the headlight without touching the bumper.

Remove the 4 bolts, including the difficult to reach one at the back and it will swing out if you get the angle right.

It's tricky at first, but once you've got it out it's very easy to see how to do the next one as there is a lip on the bottom of the light unit.

You can see on this picture where the rear bolt goes in.
