Good news for Scotland and the World?

History will show,

maybe in 30 years what Alex Salmond First Minister & David Cameron did last year.

Ineos that run Grangemouth wanted to break the Unions, and threatened to close things down,

Stopping the Unions running Grangemouth Suited Alex Salmond First Minister of Scotland & David Cameron the UK Prime Minister.

There was an Independence Referendum coming and Alex Salmond needed to save Grangemouth,

& David Cameron needed to for the UK Economy.

So Alex Salmond brokered a deal with Jim Ratcliffe owner of Ineos, and with David Camerons agreement.

Frack us stupid,  frack us until we are bandy legged,

Have all the Coal Bed Gas & any Shale oil you want,

you will get the licences regardless of if the UK or Scottish Governments are issuing them.

Forget about the Public & any protests.  Fill your boots.

So Grangemouth was saved which is a good thing really.

Well really a saver for the UK.

& they Broke the Union, & the Scottish Labour Parties capers using the Unions.

As for the 640 Million Pounds on Exploration, that is just the figure that comes out in the UK.

The Chinese Owners of Grangemouth that actually pay for things agreed 1 Billion Dollars

sounded good enough. It happens not to sound much in Millions.

& not good PR to announce how many Yen we will invest, and £ Sterling to take out of the UK.

the trouble is that the connection charges in the regulatory regime kill renewables, the charges rise based on how far the power source is from London, that's why the big tidal power company Pelamis has just gone bust.

If that's the case they need to seriously look a changing that. What a load of nonsense i thought they wanted to protect the environment silly me.

The power of selective statistics; at the time their quoted generation figures were achieved Scotland's atomic reactor fleet was actually down for routine maintenance, and the wind was unusually favourable to running wind turbines. Fast forward 3 months from the April day they quoted amd wind power drops to 1% of the quoted figure.

Unfortuately that's just the nature of the beast. We already know theat wind power alone is not enough but combined with hydro, solar ect then it's a positive step in the right direction.

On the other hand a failure with Nuclear has massive and deadly consequences as Fukushima  and Chenobyl has already shown us, just because their is very little in the Mainsteam media doesn't mean that the Fukushima incident has all cleared up I think the full effects of that will be revealed in the future.

IIRC a documentary correctly, scotland in the 70's was miles ahead in tidal research too. In fact it was some nitwit in westminster who copied the costing wrong. So it appeared to be much more than nuclear...

All this new energy is a folly!

The only energy research for any future is in what we have lots of. Sorry, but it's solar, wind and tidal.

Heard a great idea from an inventor. Uses the tides and port regeneration. Essentially floating pontoons moored in harbours. As tide rises it compresses air, then as it falls a vacuum. Both can be used to release energy into other forms. Best bit. On top of pontoon you put your port/harbour regeneration buildings, the cafe / bar. Which is powered by the water underneath it.

So simple yet typically british. Yet probably never going to happen while we've got greedy barons who think it's cheaper to drill and nick things we might need later.

Also you tend not to hear about all the deaths related to coal (from mining through to emissions from burning it) that dwarf the killed by nuclear accidents.
