Meyle HD Drop Link Bars.

Featured Replies

Has anybody fitted Meyle HD drop link bars to their Fabia?

I was thinking of trying them as mine seem to be getting a bit clattery over uneven surfaces now. (Most of the country, I know).

I have looked at the price of the Meyle HD (Heavy Duty) ones and they are still lower then genuine VAG parts.

The biggest difference is they are supposed to be top drawer, German quality and they come with a four year guarantee. (Their standard ones come with a two year guarantee)

In looks, they appear to be thicker, and have a larger, stronger joint. i am wondering if this helps them last longer, without too much negativity or lack of flexibility. Too little flex and the car may loose a certain amount of tyre grip.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Obviously not Fabia Mk2 but i've got them fitted to my heavy nose Fabia vRS and rate them very high.

Me too...

Had them on my 9n3 polo gti. Quality parts and would happily recommend.

Got them on my Alhambra, top notch quality, obviously much more substantial than oem, also use proper allen key instead of those stupid fragile xzn

Weel, its been a year and a half roughly, since I intended to get these links. My old standard ones can be wobbled a bit, although as they are ball joints, this may be normal. I have not changed them or even tried to tighten them as I have heard they can be a little loose and sound as if they are dying but get better after re-tightening. I have now bit the bullet and sent off for a pair. £23.50 the two. I decided to do it as I think its about time and additionally, the Merle HD versions come with a built in 16mm nut, meaning with the use of a (16mm obviously) Spanner, you can get them tightened easily with the socket/torque wrench as you can stop them from spinning around, no messing with allen keys/hex/star bits!

I'll let you know how it went and if it makes a difference. Also, the price MAY just be improved upon, although that won't do me any favours now!

I ordered the links Wednesday and got them today (Friday). I would have had them yesterday but as i expected them to come between Friday and Monday, I was out. The courier (UPS) Dropped them off at my local collection point, a shop round the corner to me but as I arrived home late, I collected them this morning.

Very fast for a free post  item!

The quality of the links looks great... Very chunky and solid in appearance, with shiny bars, durable rubber boots and black corrosion resilient bolts. They Zalsohave the manufacturers logo embossed on them to further increase the products "Provenance"!

I am unsure as to when I will fit them but as I have them, I want to get them on soon. Either a nice day when I am not working or at a push, I might try my local MOT guy, who is very fair in his pricing and usually quick in his turnaround. That depends partly on price and partly on convenience. Don't wanna sit outside in the rain and cold for an hour a side, jacking up the car, trying to remove rusty old bars, removing skin from my knuckles, swearing and stopping to make coffee and apply germolene to the sores etc, if avoidable. Also, I'm not wanting to throw away my hard earned, if its nice out, not too difficult to remove the old ones and I can sit back with my coffee, thinking of the personal pride in doing the job myself... Not to mention the saving of the beer tokens!

My local guy charged me £50 to change my old Yaris links and I was not too unhappy as they are a crap design, with a number of washers, rubber bits etc that all have to be arranged correctly and mine were clonking badly and looked like they were falling apart after 14 years/ 60,000 miles of use. Plus, I didn't have the time to do it.

I think the Fabia links are much more straight forward as they are the conventional two ball joints, set opposite each other, joined together by a long bar.

Anyway, I will let you know how it goes and if it stops the clattering, which I must say, is not too bad but a little annoying. No real clonks or anything that makes me want to rush the job, could even have just needed re-tightening!

Anyone go the link to where to buy them?

Nah but I hear google is a pretty good site for finding things you need.

Firstline also offer a range of HD drop links so I'd recommend checking those out for comparison of price and their quality in general is second to none.

That should get you to the seller, on eBay. Its the best price I have yet seen as, remember, its the pair not just one.
