Climate control is this normal

Featured Replies

Had my SE now for 3 month and all seems good.

Just one thing that doesn't seem right. Had a few cold morning's now and with the climate control set to auto and about 22C I would expect the fan speed to rise once it had warm are to blow but it alway seem to remain at a slow speed. The are also no lights on any of the controls in auto mode to let you know what it is doing.

Is this the same for everyone else?

Mine also shows no indication of what is being set by Auto mode, except (I think) fan speed.

Absolutely normal.

To be fair on a cold morning and climate set to 22 degrees, the car is going to want to output some seriously warm air to get that temp up, therefore suspect it doesnt blow that hard in order to not bake you in its attempts to warm up the car. When in auto it will also provide auto fan control so the car will just do its thing.

Also RE the fan lights, you dont get any speed indication because the car is controlling the fan speed, if you see fan speed indication then you have manual fan control. When you turn the fan dial and the fan speed disappears this indicates (I believe) that the speed selected would be the auto speed if the climate was set to auto. What I am not sure about is wether fan speed alone goes auto when in that setting (suspect not).

You can code the climate using VCDS to always display fan speed regardless of manual/auto mode though.

You should check which "profile" you have set for the Air Conitioning. (Press the Setup button on the climate control)

Mine was set by default in "light" profile which I guess wont run the fans very hard & will respond slowly to any changes in temperature.

In this profile, I can't say Ive heard the fans running at all.

I haven't tried the other settings but I would imagine if you set to "normal" or "strong" the fan responce will be much be quicker & probably run the fans faster.
