Yes the letters are red! That's good news. Doesn't mean the head gasket can't fail but it's the uprated one so less chance. Not sure about the gunk. Might be just in need of a flush. Let's hope so. The garage should tell you if the gasket is OK or not.

What Alexandru means about thin oil is that if the engine's been running cold due to a stuck thermostat, the car's computer will have been letting more fuel into the engine as it thinks the engine is cold. The fuel can dilute the oil and make it thinner.

That's put my mind at rest I'm thinking the gasket has been changed and the coolant never flushed hence why the gunk is in there. The only time it has lost coolant was the other day when I opened the cap after warming the car up and turning the engine off as it was slightly over the max mark when cold and a bit dribbled out the top of the tank and under the car is that normal?

I see what you mean so would it be a bad thing if the oil is like that and I'm guessing will need an oil change and filter

Possibly OK if the level was a bit high. What you don't want is excessive pressure when you take off the cap because that's a sign of gasket failure. There is usually a small amount of pressure though.

The oil (and filter) needs changing if it's thin. yes.

Yeah was about 2 inches over max went a bit trigger happy with topping it up when I didn't need to as it was just below max last week. No pressure when I take the cap off when it's cold. When warm I only get a slight hiss only the once did it overflow when I took the cap off about half a minute after I switched the engine off.

Oil change it shall be then :)

Oil pressure switch was faulty. Coolant flushed and changed staying pink and looks good. So far everything looks good guys just thought I would let you know. Garage said a lot of gunk came out of coolant from where it was so old and also said that a bit might still be in there so give it a few weeks if it comes back and flush and refill again.

Level sensor could be a wiring fault but garage are checking for me to confirm.

Thanks guys

Nice one. The level sensors are a very common issue. The metal probes get dirty and are difficult to clean because you can't get to them due to the tank design. Most people just replace the whole tank as they are cheap enough.

Yeah garage said gunkyness in the tank can make the probes dirty and fire off the warning either that or the wires themselves can chaff. Happy with the result so far tho and no leaks as well couldn't be happier.

Such a smooth car on our otherwise potholed roads over here never driven such a smooth car.

Thanks buddy
